Is there any way to take when you watch TV online from a tv show and put it on a DVD or an iPod?? I'm going to have a long flight and want to watch a season of Scrubs on the flight. Any ideaS?
access to the internet is usually unavailable in a typical flight, though there are exceptions - whereby such services are available with the flight itself for a fee. All electronic devices which have features to connect to the internet, or radio etc should be switched off.
You could download a few movies into your ipod or laptop before the flight. In the case of singapore airlines, they have a wide variety of movies to choose from, anything from classic to the latest release, and films from various countries, and most of them available for several language subs or dubs.
can we bring our own food on the plane?
i have in the past but i forgot if it was food i bought prior going through security check or after. i hate airplane food so plan on buying some take-out for my trip back to the states next week LOL.
depends on the airlines. most major airlines probably do not have major issues on 'outside food', but in some places, there can be some custom restrictions, ie. before the 'security check'. also, some budget airlines do have restrictions on bringing your own food. :)
blah, i think i am going to check my luggage on my next vacation, but i really really don't want to pay the extra $25. stupid fee.
This looks like an old thread but just in case.
I am not a good traveller so I have to have enough sleep, be rested, stay away from spicy heavy food before and during flight.
Recently, when I flew long distance, I didn't feel queasy at all. Then I went on a package tour for more than 2 weeks, which as you may know, it was on-off the van for most of the time. I didn't feel queasy at all. One of my travelling companions was wearing a wrist band that has a little hard round piece in it. He said he got that on a bad boat trip- was almost throwing his guts out. His motion sickness stopped when he put it on... with the hard piece on his pulse.
Then I realised that I had my crystal band on. It was a whole row of round hard crystals, can't remember which crystal type. From now on, no long distance travelling without my crystals. :)
Know what I hate about traveling by plane? No toothpaste and toothbrushes. You can take away my deodorant and colognes, but you do not touch the paste! How do you guys deal with this?
Unless the airlines have guidelines about not bringing your toothbrush and toothpaste up the plane and confiscates any they find on their passengers, I don't see HOW you can't have toothpaste and toothbrush.
But if you are actually expecting the airlines to provide them, the problem of not having those items is caused by you and you alone.
That's why I always take Smints with me. Plus Lush (the bath brand) have some toothy tablets designed to act as teeth cleanser without the brush and hassle.
Btw. Placebo effect most likely for crystal and pulse band.
Travelling sickness meds might be an idea - I always liked how they made me drowsy so I can sleep my way through the tedious flights and car rides even if I don't get sick. (Best = slept ~ 24 hours straight for coach ride to French Alps.)
If you have a long flight (like 8+ hours), it's best to turn down every plane meal and drink offered (except for 1 meal). It's also best to go to the washroom as much as you can before boarding your flight. Sleep is more important than food and you want to stay away from those airplane washrooms. I just had a 11 hour flight from Vancouver to Beijing where I didn't go to the washroom once. I turned down every meal and drink offered to me, except for 1. It's also best to get out of your seat and move about a bit too.
For short flights, watching a couple of movies or tv show will kill the time pretty fast.
Bring an iPad loaded with movies/games, a neck pillow, headphones and you should be set. I never used to use a neck pillow, but it helps so much with supporting your neck while you nap.
I like to get an aisle seat so I can walk around and get circulation in my legs on longer flights. Also, it allows you to put your bags above you and keep the space under the seat in front of you free if you have a bag and if there's space in the cabins.
Wow, you didn't use the toilet for 11 hours straight? I think it's not advisable to hold it in, probably really bad for your health if you do have to use the toilet. I knew someone who had a kidney infection because she tried not to use the toilet much during a long flight.
I would suggest staying hydrated during a flight and it's ok to eat lightly. I find airplane food part of the travel adventure. Also good to do some light stretching and exercises on the plane too if it's really long.
You can buy those disposable Wisps brushes and use them on the plane.
