Not all eras produce as many as four elite martial artists. Cheung 3 Fung and Cheung Mo Gei are the only two wulin fighters confirmed to have attained a level comparable to the L/ROCH Greats during the timeframe of HSDS. The jury is out on Lady Yeung (Yeung Gor's descendant), though it is quite possible she is also of that level. Beyond that, however, we know of no other Greats-level fighters emerging during the HSDS era.
Its a shame Guo Xiang died early otherwise she would have been a strong candidate as well.
Agree with Ken not all eras produce many epitome martial artist.
in HSDS other than Zhang Wuji and Zhang Sanfeng there was not other high level fighters. There was not enough information to reveal that yellow dress maiden or GX were elites.
I am also assuming JY doesn't believe in producing elite female fighters? Was XLN's grand master LCY considered a Great? I cant recall if WCY was just being lenient to her whenever they fought because he liked her...

Yeah the lack of Great-level fighters in HSDS is a downside to me even though it's my favorite novel. We didn't even see much of ZSF in action and the other near-Great, Lady Yang is a mere cameo. The biggest bummer is there's no Great-level villain and the most capable villains (XM elders) are a clear 2 notches below Great.
