In DGSD, we saw that the combo of Mo Yung F'uk and Yau Tan Tze was able to give even the mighty Siu Fung a run for his money. If MYF and YTZ found themselves suddenly entrapped in the whip formation of the three Shaolin Do-Generation Elders from HSDS, would the combo be able to fight its way out, or would the three monks waste them?
Well power-wise I think You Tanzhi alone better than Du Monks but he lack "technique" and "experience" especially against formations so I vote for Du Monks mostly by their formation and experience not "power"..
Their synergy works against single-point attacks from XF, also mostly because XF relies more on raw power than sophisticated techniques, which plays right into YTZ's hands (literally).
That won't work against the Du monks formation. As long as they can avoid direct palm blasts from YTZ, they can make quick work of the duo. Remember that all formations are inherently designed so that multiple fighters can pool together to handle someone with much higher raw power than each individual. YTZ is the perfect use case for them. MRF is too weak to make a difference. He's at best equal to the best Du monk.
I think the YTZ+MRF combo works best against Greats who rely more on overwhelming power than sophisticated techniques like XF, GJ, H7G, GWM.
It won't work against Greats who have more balanced power and techniques like YG, ZBT, ZSF, ZWJ.
Gwok Jing's techniques were pretty diverse and sophisticated. Applying principles of the 9 Yum Jen Ging, he transformed the Hong Lung 18 Palms into something that wasn't just a heavy cannon (it could still be that, but it could also be a precision weapon as well). Moreover, he also had Left/Right Hand Technique, Vacant Fist, and knowledge of the Cheun Jen Sect's 7 Stars Big Dipper Formation (plus Peach Blossom Island skills that he learned from his father-in-law). By the time of ROCH, Gwok Jing is one of the most balanced fighters in the entire Jin Yong canon.Quote:
