Default Good Sad/ Romantic Asian Movies

Anyone know of good movies that are sad (lots of tears) Asian movies to suggest, preferably movies with PG-13 and below rating. IIA rating and below I guess. Some movies that I liked in the past are Fly Me to Polaris and Turn Left, Turn Right.

Try some Chow Yan Fat movies... I mean the ones he did in Hong Kong and not that USA crap that he's appeared in lately. Almost all of his movies I've seen had a sad ending.

If you want to watch a good romantic movie, hire/buy "Comrades, Almost a Love Story" starring Maggie Cheung.

it's hard to find chinese pg13 movies. my recommendations:

    an autumn's tale
    - chow yun fat, cherrie chung, danny chan

this is a classic. it was an award-winning movie 10+ years ago, and it's still a great movie now. i just rewatched this movie in 11/2004. cyf is tremendous.

    all about ah long
    - chow yun fat and sylvia chang

    ----------
    a moment of romance
    - andy lau and jacqueline wu

    full throttle
    - andy lau and gigi leung

    ----------
    farewell my dearest
    - simon yam

    -----------
    c'est la vie, mon cheri
    - anita yuen and sean lau

Thanks so much for the posters. Hey are all the movies suitable for say a twelve year old. My sister and I enjoy watching movies together. It is just that a lot of CHinese movies have high ratings and sex scenes or violence. I don't really want my sister to watch those.

I am planning to by Failan but I heard that Cecilia is in the movie for only 5 minutes and the rest is about an old guy. I am just a sucker for sad movies. Any other more recent (1998+) movies?
Or Tiramisu? (heard it was sad)
    Or Lost in Time

I bought several other romantic comedies but they were horrible: Love on the Rocks, Why Me Sweetie (a bit sad but pretty boring), Maybe I should stop buying Louis Koo movies. All of his roles are pretty much the same.

Yesasia is a rip-off. Don't you have DVD shops that sell them?

Wait, I found that if I buy Korea Version of Love Letter it is 14.99 but that still expensive.

Well, there are several places in Southern CA, but they don't carry Japanese or Korean movies.

Might want to get someone to buy for you and ship it over.

Love Letter (Japan) is a movie and stars Miho Nakayama.

I think the Korean one is a TV serial.

all the movies i recommended are suitable for all people above 10. i highly recommend "an autumn's tale" because the movie is a classic. you'll still like it if you watch it 20 years from now.

Actually Il Mare is Japanese but the one released in Korea is cheaper than buying the one released in Japan--same cast and story.

I tried getting Autumn's Tale but there are only VCDs left. Bummer. The VCDs that I buy don't tend to last long and they become corrupted later on with massive pixel reduction.

How would the ratings correlate to US ratings?

Oops noticed my mistake there--I mean Il Mare versions: Overseas, Korean, Japan, US Version--Korean version is the cheapest with Jeon Ji Hyun.

Is Sky Lover and White Dragon (Cecilia CHeung) worth buying?

I was watching the 1997 Thai movie "Sunset At Chaopraya" and I cried terribly at the end. The story was romantic though bitter! It was very good!

This is such a tearjerker. It started off happy and lighthearted, but then geez... The kid who played Bo Zai ( Huang Kun Hsuan ) did a really good job. He looks a lot like Wong Hei. I wonder if they're related in any way?

"an autumn's tale" is so good that i recommend you pay the $29 for the digitally remastered DVD version, which i'm buying. then go to fuzzsoft.com and get ultra dvd2mp3 to rip the song from the dvd.

i bought 30 dvds from dddhouse.com, which operates in HK. their web sites looks unprofessional, but they delivered the goods.
