Default THE SEVEN SWORDS (TSUI HARK FILM)

Here's the new official website of Tsui Hark's The Seven Sword movie.

    http://www.sevenswordsthefilm.com/

The movie has been making quite a buzz lately as better than any Wuxia movies you have ever seen in the last several years, it will be a dazzling martial arts extravaganza and a ticket to Tsui Hark's career revival ever since 'Once Upon a Time in China'

This movie is based on Liang Yu Sheng's novel, titled 'The Seven Sword Leave Mount Heaven,' the martial arts choreographer is Liu Chia-Liang and starring :

    Leon Lai
    Charlie Yeung
    Lu Yi
    Sun Honglei
    Kim So-Yeon
    Donnie Yen
    Wang Xueqi
    Zhang Jingchu
    Zhou Qunda
    Dai Li-Wu

'Seven Swordsmen Leave Mt. Heaven' novel tells a tale of seven swordsmen who rebelled against the Qing dynasty.

Oh hey, "Qi Jian Xia Tian Shan"

Yeah, they are gonna have to trim the storyline slightly to fit it into a movie.

Hmm I lost faith in Tsui Hark since Legend of Zu...

But I will still watch this one though, you know, give it a try...

I'm assuming you are referring to the 2nd one right? Because the first Legend of Zu he made was quite alright.

Though I wouldn't put too much faith in this movie either.

Those costumes look rather 'dodgy'.... I hope the film fairs a little better... After "The Blade", and "Legend of Zu", I've labeled Tsui Hark as the master of random chaos and confusion... Let's hope this time his stoy actually makes some sense..

Uhuh, not the old one with Adam Cheng and Yuan Biao, but the new one with Ekin Cheng and Cecilia Cheung... The whole thing made me scream "WTF?!!"

Hope this will not be like those over the top special effect extravaganza Legend Of Zu which I doesn't like at all. I hope this is more on the OUATIC martial arts style fighting

I have a good news and bad news to share

    First the good news :

In an interview with kungfucinema.com website, Donnie Yen said that 'I think Tsui Hark will get an Oscar for this film. It wil outshine the other recent wu xia films. The depth and richness of the story is unbelivable! I compare it to Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.'

Donnie also said that 'It doesn’t even look like a Tsui Hark film. It’s totally different from anything else he’s made in the last decade. It’s slower, sensitive - a masterpiece! Tsui Hark is back! '

    Now the bad news :

In the same interview, when answering the same question Donnie Yen admitted that Tsui Hark changed the original storyline of the novel, he played a Korean swordsman, and he didn't read the novel himself because Tsui Hark told him not to read it.

In the novel, he was supposed to be a bad guy, but in this movie, he will play as a good guy.

Sounds to me as if Tsui Hark is trying to "westernise" this story... So it could be once this story comes out.... Especially lovers of the novel...
