I must post something and predict a Nucks V as the they are playing the Bruins tonight.

Stupid Nonis signs Brookbank to a 1 way contract and we can't get rid of him now. Stupid McCarthy shouldn't even be in the NHL. Anyway, Hopefully, the Nucks will wake up tonight cause some other team (stupid Flames) are leading the division for the first time in eons.

5 - 3 Nucks over Bruins. with Naslund getting the hatrick and Daniel finishing off with 2. Samsaonov gets 1 and Leetch gets 2.

I actually see potential in Brookbank. This guys is willing to learn and he knows he doesn't have a lot of skill. But crawford shouldn't be messing him around like putting him at forward and defense in the same game. That is just plain stupid. They need to develop this guy a D or Forward and make that decision NOW. McCarthy has to learn to skate and handle the puck. I mean this guy looks like a clumsy player from a Pee Wee game. We should have kept at least Malik or Sopel. Malik was a great stay at home defenseman. But holy crap what a move on the shootout a few games ago.

altho brookbank looks clumsier then a pee wee hockey palyer in a game, hes actually quite good w/ the puck in practice situations. i went to the nucks skill competition yesterday and he burned the goalie on numerous occasion. altho the goalie is the nuck's equipment manager, brookbank still show dat he can deke pretty good. i think the hi-lite of the event was when the sedins and brookbank went in on the 3-on-none event, they did the 'flying I' and made 2 drop passes w/ hank scoring top shelf, dat was a beauty. if brookbank gets a brain and some hockey sense, he'll be a decent power forward in the league. but ur rite, crawford should stop messing w/ his position, its just confusing him.

funny how ppl wanted sopel and malik gone so badly the last few yrs, and now dat they are gone ppl wish they are back, hehe.

In fact, they were beating the Oilers and Flames on a consistent basis and breaking even with the Avs on a consistent basis. They were also losing to the Wild on a consisten basis too. However, that team is no more. We now have a bunch of floaters and a bunch of crappy d-men. Anyway, there's no excuse for losing to the Oilers tonight.
the diff is bert and mo. they used to be good, now they either dont try (bert) or is ineffective (mo). when 2/3 of your top line is MIA, your team wont be nearly as good anymore. w/ the team being basically the same as last few season, they only reason the nucks isnt as good anymore is becuz of our top players took a step back

ya i never understood that. I was always a fan of them both. Sopel and Ohlund are IMO the best pointman. Jovo sucks at the point because he can't make a good decision whether to pass or shoot on the PP. Usually it gets blocked anyways. Sopel's shots are quick and they hit the net. Malik showed flashes of great stickhandling but he was the stay at home Dman and did a great job of it.

Well, Sopel is/was the best O-dman and perhaps PP specialist we had on our team. However, the guy is downright scary (and I'm not just talking about his looks) when it comes to carrying the puck out of our zone. Him and Jovo are just terrible at it.

As for Malik. Well, he's a good defensive d-man, but man is he ever a pylon. Then again, I guess with good positioning, your skating would matter as much. Right now, I would much rather have Malik over McCarthy or even Jovo (when it comes to defense). Damn it! We can really use his awesome dekeing skills for shootouts. I mean, Bertuzzi and Naslund sucks on shootouts when compared to Malik! ha.

Anyway, it doesn't seem like the Nucks have another game till Friday against the Sens. What a strange schedule.

Well, since it's game day and it's against the best team in the league, I must continue with my perfect prediction record to keep the streak going.

today's game is Vancouver vs Ottawa.

Nucks 6 - Sens 5 in OT (no shootout)

hatrick for Naslund, 1 for Bert, 1 for Salo, and 1 for Kesler.

Heatley with 2, Spezza with 1, Alffie with 1, and Schaefer with 1.

wow, dats a pretty good guess, it did went to a shootout and we did won. u should play some sports action hehe.
i went to the game and i had box seat tix, and man what a game! best of the season even tho i went to the wings game too. hasek was awesome, stoning morrison on at least 4 great scoring chances. i dunno how mo got 1st star still. aulds really good in shootout, his glove save on fisher was wow. and he didnt fell for spezza's deke. in the future, i'd pull clouts from shootout and put auld in even if clout play the whole game. dannys not very good in shootout for some reason.
funny thing is, b4 the game i ran into dave nonis, i said hi to him and he said hi back, then i told him to trade bertuzzi, and he smile and shake his head and walk into the elevator. well, bert played a great game against the sens, so i guess i wont make a good GM haha.
wow im still high from last nite's game, GM place was rocking! if only we play the sens more often. damn u new nhl schedule!! lol

for once the game actually lived up to its hype. And why didn't they have Kerry Fraser as ref? They have 2 rookie refs for such an important game. It couldn't have been better if they didn't call so many penalties but it was still a crazy game. Damn i have always thought shooting the puck on the shootout is more effective than a deke since the players go in with minimal speed. Auld read the deke. Hasek stopped Nazzy and Bert was kinda lucky to get that one. Finally Danny Sedin just rips it.

I do play something like Sports Action (it's called Sports Select in Calgary), but I'm usually only 50% right. The thing is, if you don't buy ties (OTs or shootouts), you can't really win much $$$. I always buy at least 2 ties and sometimes 3 at most. If I buy 3 ties and a win (odds of about 2), then I'll get around $1,200, but that's hard to do and the closet I got was two ties. Tonight, there were 3 ties and a win out of only 4 schedule games and if someone picked the right combos tonight, he/she would be a pretty happy person. Usually, I just buy 2 ties an 2 victories and see what my chances are at $300. However, I would never bet $ on a Nucks game. I never have and never shall.

Anyway, that's a pretty funny story of you telling Nonis to trade Bert. I really don't want Bert traded unless we were getting a marquee player in return. By marquee, I mean guys like Heatley (when he was available), Thorton (when he was available but we would've been over the cap had we done that), or any big names that can still put up the #s. I would really love to get the 1st overall selection for the upcoming draft cause Kessels is no less a phenom than Crosby is. If it was Bert to the Pengs for Pallfy and their 2006 1st overall, I would do that in a heartbeat.

Next game against the Ranger is going to be a hard one. If they can stay out of the penalty box, then I'm quite confident that Ohlund and Salo can shut down Jgar. If not, then Jgar will have his 69 (the number he originally wanted for his jersey) ways with the Nucks as he pleases.

Kerry Fraser would suck more. The guy doesn't call fair plays. He calls them the way he wants it because he wants to be the show. He chooses which team should win, not the teams themselves. Fraser has always been by far one of the worst and most egotistical refs in NHL history. It's ironic cause on the TSN show "Off the Record", Fraser was saying NHL refs should be held accountable and blame that many of the refs in the NHL weren't doing their jobs. Well, he's definitely one of those refs and I don't see him holding himself accountable for it.

I don't agree with that. i think he lets the player play more instead of calling every stupid little penalty. Mcreary is also good.

Yes, he does let the players play. Indeed he does. Like when a d-man mugs an opposing forward, he just lets the play go on. I'm not complaining about Fraser cause he calls every penalty like the refs were told to do this season. I've always hated Fraser cause he doesn't call the penalties that does deserve to be called or disallows a goal whenever he feels like.

Btw, McCreary (sp?) is also another really bad ref. These refs you name are only good by NHL reputation, but if you actually watch them ref a game, you would know why so many fans can't stand them. I don't like games with too many penalties either, but that doesn't mean I have to stand a bad ref.

well tonites game is another example of when a ref ruins the game. the nucks and oiler were playing a great game, lots of flow and lots of rushes for 2 period, and only 3 penalties called. then all of a sudden the refs decided they should put an end to the fun and start calling every little thing. the game slowed down and become a specialty team game. it sux dat the refs decided the game instead of the players.
about trading bert, im happy dat we didnt now. hes playin like the great powerforward that he is. hes hittin and scoring and shows lots of hussel, and dats all i ask for. btw, cookes return makes our whole 3rd line much more dangerous. park and kesler looks lost offensively w/o cookie. now we can throw out 3 lines dat can score.

Well, I only caught the 3rd period and had to miss OT to boot. anyway, I can't disagree with any of the penalties though. There was a penalty on a Nuck player late in the 3rd that should've also been called on an Oiler player just a few seconds earlier, but other than that, the refs did what they were told to do and they did. It was really more the Nucks fault than the refs fault. The Oilers were allowed back in this game cause of the Nuck's lazy plays that lead to PKs. You can't do that in the new NHL. We even got away with a high stick on Stoll. I can also blame Oulette on this game too. He was awlful on his positioning tonight. I think he was out of position on at least 3 Oiler goals. That Horcoff SH goal should've never happened.

And how come our 5-on-3's suck so much now? I used to remember when 5-on-3's were automatic goals. The chances of scoring on a 5-on-3 is/was better than scoring on a penalty shot, yet I can't remember when the last time the Nucks scored on a 5-on-3.

Anyway, Bert is looking great. But now Naslund has no jump, but that's excusable since he's partly injured. Having Cooke back is good too. Goren should not be with the big club anymore.

Well, I didn't make a prediction on this game and that's the only reason the Nucks lost tonight!!! I will for the LA game though.

the first 2 periods were just like the 3rd, some light hook on the stick and a few minor interference. it wasnt a blatant foul dat take away a good scoring chance, just how they are supposed to play effective d w/o (imo) being illegal. there were goals and scoring chance everywhere. then in the 3rd it becomes a PP fest, w/ some really borderline calls. sure, they were penalties according to the rules, but it wasnt necessary to call. i dunno, mabbe i was just upset dat a great game was ruined by PP, so i blame the refs.
i dont blame oulette on the SH goal tho, cuz jovo went down to block it and it went rite through him. if u go down u better block it, or else ur just screening your goalie. on the OT goal oulette wasnt squared to peca, but it was still a great shot. he made a few great saves so i think overall he did ok. wat do u expect from a guy for a 5th round pick, rite?
i think our 5 on 3 is suckin now cuz salos missing the net alot. and mo shouldnt play the point, he wont shoot. and seems like all of jovo's shots get block. they need to have more then the 2 plays dat they use all the time. if nazzy would just start shootin more from the halfboard again, dat'll open up more space for others.
well u better make a prediction for mondays game, cuz the flames and oilers are rite on our tail

Well, if they were calling it like that in the playoffs, I'll be p*d, but in this new NHL, I rather they call it like this so players would stop doing it and hence create more scoring chances. It might not look like much, but add it up, and you're taking a lot of scoring chances out of the game. That's why the NHL had to resort to this cause of the styles the Wilds, Flames, and Devils played for awww... so long.

I don't like Salo on the point on a 5-on-3 or Morrison (who's sucking big time on PP's). Salo would just shoot it hard from near the blue line and if you have a 5-on-3, that's not what you want to do. Morrison is just plain sucking this season. I knew all along his contract was a bad one. You want to score down low on 2 man advantages. That's how the Nucks used to always scored on a 5-on-3. I don't think I even have Naslund out there for the first pp unit or the first half of a 5-on-3. It seems like every team in the league has the book on Naslund's PP read. I rather have the Sedins out there with Bert and Ohlund with any d-men not named Brookbank, McCarthy, or Salo (I would have him out there only if he doesn't shoot the puck all the time when we're 2-men ahead. With one man ahead, I don't mind).

As for Oullete. I don't blame him for the Peca OT goal (that was more Ohlund's fault for not taking away the pass), but I do blame him for 3 other goals he let in. That shorthanded goal should've never happened because Oullete did not come out far enough to challenge. He didn't cut down the angle. That's something both Auld and Cloutier are good at. Besides, Auld is much bigger and would've had that goal I'm sure. Cloutier is a pretty good goalie, but he gives up way too many rebounds and the worst part about him is he either chokes in the playoffs or he's too injured. That's why I, you, and everyone not name Dave Nonis didn't agree with the two year signing. You should've asked Dave "why would you sign Clouts to a two year contract?" instead of telling him to trade Bert.

Anyway, my predictions for tonight's game. It is LA and we should be seeking revenge for our loss last time to them. My prediction is 5-4 for the Nucks.

2 goals by Nazzy, 1 by Bert, 1 by Daniel, and 1 by Salo (pp)

1 goal by Lum Vin.., 1 by Pavel D, and 2 by Frolov. I can't spell their names.

    Another game, another frustrating loss!!!

Auld is sucking big time. He has singlehandedly cost us the last 2 games!

Crawford is an idiot when it comes to shootouts! Why the hell would you keep putting out the same two guys in on them when both were pretty bad in the pre-season and in the regular season. Crawford's been an idiot in shootouts ever since not putting Gretzky on the shootout in 98. Now, he puts Bertuzzi and Naslund in on every shootout and they both suck at it. I would've chosen Daniel and anyone else but those 2. It's usually the ones who don't score much that surprise goalies cause goalies don't study them in videos unlike guys like Bertuzzi and Naslund. Noticed what Malik did? Crawford should be putting out Jovo, Ohlund, and anyone but our big guns whose predictability is very easy.

On the positives now... our PP is starting to heat up again after sucking for so long. We're starting to get more offense now. Unfortuanely, our 2 biggest problems are still way too much to overcome. We have major issues in goaltending and on defense.

yea i dont get crawford sometime. kesler on 3rd in shootout? ahead of danny? wtf? i would always put my best and most talented players in the shootout, not some 3rd line plummer who had all of 4 goals this season. sure nazzys not puttin them in rite now, but he'll always give u the best chance of scoring becuz he is the best on your team. if im a betting man, i'd always want to put my money on a player dat gives me the best odds.
freakin auld is driving me nuts! he makes 2 huge saves then let in a softie. hes inconsistant DURING the game! he plays well when he dont have to carry the load, but he cant be a #1 man in the nhl imo. i bet ppl are actually missing clouts rite about now
oh man, last 2 games salo and ohlund plays like crap. i've never seen them turn the puck over so much. they are our best dmen, and if they arent going we wont win. they better turn it around soon or else we'll miss the PO. i think they are overplayed and are gettin tired, if we can we should keep them from playing in the olympic or else they'd really be worn out by PO.
i like our PP now, i like salo shooting from the point. he got the hard shot, he should use it. however, if hes not hitting the net w/ his shots hes useless, and hes not hittin the net now. jovo sux too, gives it away too much, make bad passes, and his shots are always blocked. i think i saw nazzy manning a point nowadays, just goes to show how sad our d had play lately. our 5 on 5, on the other hand, needs major works

What are you talking about? Why would you put you most talented scorers on shootouts when they are known to suck at them. Iginla never takes shootouts for the Flames cause Sutter knows he sucks on breakaways and yet Iggy is the Flames best player. I don't get why Crawford keeps putting those two out when everyone knows they won't do well on them.

Naslund and Bertuzzi is by far our best players and yet they both suck on shootouts and even before Crawford handed out the 3 shooters list to the ref, I was crossing my fingers that Naslund and Bertuzzi won't be on it. I figured they both miss cause before this shootout, they were 1 for 6 and 0 for whatever in the pre-season. That 1 goal that Bertuzzi scored against Ottawa was barely in too.

Kesler actually did pretty good in shootouts in the pre-season and I would've put him, Daniel, and anyone else on that list. Goalies and teams around the league study video tapes of star players and really, Naslund and Bertuzzi are too predictable (just like Bure was in 94 when he did that move on Richter on a penalty shot in the playoffs). Too bad Malik isn't on our team now. We could really use him. In fact, I would trust Jovo and Ohlund more than I would trust Naslund and Bertuzzi when it comes to shootouts.

I don't think Crawford ever makes his players practice the shootout, which is a huge mistake cause points won in these are critical!

Auld is so bad right now... He's not keeping us in games. As soon as we take a lead, he allows a soft goal for the other team. I don't trust Oulette. I guess I am missing Cloutier now. Our d is just atrocious. Allen is back to his old sucking form. Jovo is just bad and has been all season long. He's terrible defensively and leads the league in giveaways I think. Even our top d-men aren't playing up to par. These division games are so important and yet we keep blowing chunks in thme.

The only positives are Bertuzzi is playing great offensively recently, Naslund is scoring even though he's injured, The Sedins and Carter are doing pretty well, and our pp is good again. However, I don't like Salo on the point. He's not hitting the net and even when he does, he just shoots right at the goalie with no screens in front. Jovo is missing the net, has his shots blocked, or gives the puck away like you said. Seriously, our 2nd PP unit is better than our 1st and I would rather see them on the first minute of the PP than the last 30 seconds.

Also, with the loss to the Kings, my predictions for game day have been 4-0-0-1.
Well, at least the Nucks got at least a point on every game I predicted.

Oh well, who cares about the division title. The Stanely Cup is all that matters!
