Hi, I distinctly remembered that there was a translation thread for this novel but for the life of me, I can't seem to be able to find it after utilising the search. Anyone can help to post the link please? Thanks!

I thought the 80s version had better music but the 96 version is also very good. I really like Jackie. I think he was very funny and did a very good job in his role. Cherie Chan and He Mei tien was also very good. I thought the 2012 version was okay, just watched it for Joe Chen =) I think a lot of ppl complain about it being butcher. It kind of reminds me of the Jet Li version.
at first sight I feel the 95 version of ren ying ying is not beautiful enough, the more episode i watch, she is more pleasing to my eyes. I wondered why.
SOD96 is one of the best adaptations, very accurate to the novel. Besides that, it was also a proper fast-paced and action-packed wuxia show as well, typical of what you got in the 90s regarding this genre. Back then when the show and cast was announced there was loads of whining over how Jackie Lui wasn't handsome enough to play Linghu Chong. Turns out that the acting skills and persona he had on his side made him one of the best (if not the best) Linghu Chongs. The fact that he generally didn't cater to the "female gaze" probably lessened the popularity of the show as a whole, but in my view that's a good thing.
It is a very underrated adaptation. Hands down my favourite. I would argue that Jackie Lui is the best Linghu Chong, likewise for Fiona Leung as Ren Yingying. They had great chemistry on screen.

Yes best adaptation. All remake cannot have 50% from Jackie Lui or Fiona Leung acting....
