Ke Zhen E wasn't born blinded, he just got blinded.
"I will punish the evil and protect the weak, superboy is in a winning streak. The sky's peak is what I seek"
That is what i thought but the posted revision 6 by Jin Yong says that he is born blind. I mean i know he was a good martial artist and all... but a blind general... perhaps we should ban any more revisions as Jin Yong gets older and adds in plot holes.
Actually that kind made sense of the timeline before LOCH started. In the old verison, he was blinded by MCF and CXF after they get kick of the island which was when Ke Zhen E was very young before he met the other 6weridoes. but MCF and CXF stole the 9 Yin when HR was about to be born. I think HR's age is about 15 during the story, so that is about 15-17 year ago and GJ was about 3 or 1 year old. They found GJ when he was about 6 year old. At the time, Ke Zhen E said he was blinded when he was very young by MCF and CXF, which is only about 3 or 4 years ago, so it doesn't make sense.Originally posted by Zhuge Liang

i don't know about him born blinded...he was just no longer blinded by MCF/CXFKe Zhen E... is he not based on a historical general? I mean how on earth can a famous general be born blind?
but really, Ke Zhen E was a historical general?
Guo Jing was not transferring energy in the middle of the battle. He was carrying Yang Guo on his back, and Yang Guo felt Guo Jing's body heat and was reminded of how Guo Jing transferred energy to him last night.Originally Posted by Athena

By the way, I wonder if Jin Yong had changed anything about the death of Gong Sun Lu Er and the way Guo Fu cut Yang Guo's hand. I think those parts were not very well written.
If the character who rape XLN has change in the 3rd Ed., did JY change how the person was dealt with as well? Or did he kept the content the same except a name switch?
That was my point: Guo Jing was NOT transferring energy to Yang Guo. Athena misread this part of the novel.Originally Posted by Yang Ming

Athena, in the 3rd revised version, does he still lose an arm?

You mean Jiao Wan'er isn't in the TVB serial? Yeah, she isn't.Originally Posted by wkeej
Anyway there is a Jiao Gongli in the TVB serial. He's one of the san bang si zhai's chiefs, but is never referred to directly by that name...... I managed to see his name in the ending credits.
In a way Jing Yong's continuing revisions, sometimes quite dramatic and perhaps, unnecessary, reminds me of George Lucas's unending quest to "perfect" Star Wars.
No one can argue that an author shouldn't have ultimate control over his work, but there has to be a point where you just have to let it go, as something you made with love but that has taken on a life of its own, an extention of you that is yet not quite entirely yours alone.

Athena, good to see you posting again
Just a Q: So in the previous edition, Chengzhi didn't love A-jiu, only Qingqing? And in the revised edition, he loves A-jiu more than Qingqing?
If so, it's really
I wish JY would revise it one more time and make Yuen dump the jealous biatch.

The thread I made a few months ago has disappeared due to technical circumstances. I have decided to create a new one. I hope the moderators, Moinlieon or Ken would be so kind as to make it "sticky" again.
3rd edition of The Sword Stained with Royal Blood:
1) He Tieshou doesn't fall in love with Qingqing anymore. She immediately saw through she was a girl. But Jin Yong turned He Tieshou into martial arts fanatic. When she saw the skills of Yuan Chengzhi, she immediately wanted to become his student and learn his skills. She couldn't care less about her 5 Poison/Immortal Sect anymore.
2) The martial arts school of the Wen family has changed from Shiliang to Qixian. But they are stil despicable.
3) Yuan Chengzhi is smitten by princess Changping immediately after meeting her. He often would think about her.
4) The Golden Snake Swordsman developed a new martial arts style in memory of his love for Wen Yi. Very romantic of him.
5) The prince who wanted to usurp the throne of emperor Chongzhen is not a fictional character anymore. But Jin Yong used a historic figure, an uncle of Chongzhen. The prince of Wei. Here this usurper didn't die and escaped Beijing, he was later captured by Qing soldiers and killed.
6) More information on other rebel leaders of that time and on Li Zicheng.
7) Jiao Wan'Er is in love with Yuan Chengzhi, in the second edition it was not clear. But now there are a few times when the readers could read about the feelings she had for Yuan Chengzhi.
8) Jin Yong wrote more about the chaotic situation when Li Zicheng was driven away from Beijing. The Ming kings fighting amongst each other etc.
9) In the end Yuan Chengzhi used the new style form of The Golden Snake Swordsman and gained the upperhand on Yuzhen Zhi.
