Default Cheun Jen Sect's battle formations after losing members.

The Cheun Jen Sect's Big Dipper 7 Stars Formation was originally designed for use by seven people...namely, the seven disciples of Cheun Jen Sect Founder Wong Chung Yeung.

During the course of LOCH, the Cheun Jen 7 Disciples lost Tam Chui Deun. They tried to plug the gap with third generation member Wan Tze Ping, but it just wasn't the same.

Halfway through ROCH, Ma Yuk died from old age. The Cheun Jen Sect Second Generation disciples were down to five by the time that the Golden Wheel Monk and his Mongol allies attacked the Chung Yeung Temple.

Nevertheless, the remaining five had a powerful formation that they were able to use to hold off the Golden Wheel Monk (at least until Fok Do intervened). Did they redesign their fighting formation to accommodate five rather than seven fighters? All of the Cheun Jen Sect's battle formations were arranged in multiples of seven. Re-arranging it to be effective for five could not have been an easy task.

From the translation it says that the new re-designed formation combines the internal chi of the users into one and attacks the opponent as one or something like that. However at the time of the mongolian attack it was only something like 70% complete.

The translation also stated that although they named it after the 7 Star Formation, it really doesn't matter how many people you had since it's a technique that allows you to merge your internal energies together.

After all, they intended this technique to shore up the fact that none of the QZ disciples were particularly exceptional by giving them a method to combine their collective power in a efficient manner.

But what about actual fighting stances? Do they just merge their internal energy together for one big blow and hope the person they are attacking are willing to take the blow? Wouldn't their mobility be affected? Surely, they cannot keep up their internal energy merge while moving around.

The entire point is that they avoid techniques because they simply can overcome XLN's techniques with technique.

Instead, they opted for simplicity over complexity, stillness over motion.

That said, I think it's more useful when your opponent is actually seeking to attack you.

a quote from HQG, "it is nessesary to strike the blow in such a way the opponent cannot avoid it". i belive the QZ elders would have used this priciple in mind when creating the 7star formation.

Similar to YG's heavy iron sword, huh? However, speed might be the perfect counter for power and limited mobility. If XLN can just get around the blast, she will be able to take out the formation.
