Big fangirly "Disappearing Bullets" squee post ahead: (blame it on swtaznlaydee, you triggered it by posting that fanmade pic of Sean/YM/Nic! :P)

Guys, I am so hyped for this movie it's not even funny!!! (I don't think I've been this excited for a YM project in like...forever? Well, I was pretty hyped for CP3 due to the promise of a second YM/HG collab, but I try not to think about that disappointment. >_<) However, is it just me or are the pics above really terrible ones of Sean and Nic? Nic does not look as hot as he usually does there. Actually you know what's funny--maybe I'm blinded by my FengMi-ness but on first glance I actually thought that pic of Nic was FSF for a second, LOL. Umm, not to imply that FSF is way less hot than Nic is or anything... (Ok who am I kidding, sorry FSF but that's the truth...I still like you better overall though. ) Can you imagine how excited Yang Mi is to finally pair up with her idol crush in a movie?! XD If I'm hyperventilating at the thought, I think she might've passed out from squeeing already!

Based on various bits and pieces of preliminary plot summaries that are out, this is what we know so far about "Disappearing Bullets": (note, not all of them may be true...this is pieced together from various sources so I cannot verify the authenticity of all of them)

- mystery thriller (one of my favourite genres! XD)
- revolves around solving a series of murder cases where people are found dead via 'disappearing bullets' (I guess that means, they look like they died from gunshot wounds but the bullets are nowhere to be found?)
- set in Min Guo period in the Shanghai Bund (love love love this time period/setting)
- Sean plays a detective/police in charge of solving the murder mystery
- Nic Tse plays a skilled hitman--I thought before this meant he was a "bad guy" but apparently he is teaming up with Sean to solve the crime (Nic Tse with guns? I am SO onboard...)
- YM plays a bar/nightclub singer (歌姬) who is the love interest of Nic Tse's character

Not much more known at the moment--I REALLY hope YM's character is more than just a "pretty vase"--best if she has some kind of revenge motives/secret backstory/double identity (like her character in JCSS). I am debating whether I'd like more for her to be teamed up with Sean/Nic or if I'd rather her be on the "bad guys" side (think of the potential!). Even better if they put her newly acquired kungfu skills to good use and add a gun for good measure (I think I mentioned this before but ever since those few scenes in JCSS I've been hoping for a YM series/movie where she has a kickass gun-wielding kungfu-fighting role ^_^).

Ok, I am getting ahead of myself here and letting my imagination run wild...to not be disappointed, I will just assume that she is playing a mere "flower vase" role not involved in the murder mystery and will have minimal screentime. Even then, I think I should be grateful for getting a YM/Nic pairing out of this!

If this goes through YM will have paired up with all my current favourite actors (Nic, Hu Ge, Yuan Hong, FSF; plus she's worked with several of my old favourites, i.e. Chen Kun and HXM).

...Well, no, it still hasn't been officially confirmed. We probably have to wait till a press conference closer to November (when filming starts) for that. So yeah, I really should get a hold of myself and stop jinxing this...but I keep reading so much news about it I am having a hard time not gushing.

But, like I said, there's been a LOT of news about this (in Baidu forums, on pretty reputable weibos, by "insiders", etc). Much more so than if it were just a rumour...plus, with rumours often there will be people refuting it and saying it isn't true--meanwhile no one has said this is false, instead everyone seems to be treating it like a done thing. In the past, news like this have turned out to be true. So, again, not 100% yet...I usually do wait for confirmation about news before posting it here, but this time I just can't help myself from prematurely getting excited (despite me telling myself repeatedly this is a very bad idea.)

i totally understand. the way yang mi was burned by mei ah, i want her to have another project to replace windseeker. a project that she can be as excited about as she was for windseeker. as for her wu dang movie, i'm not so impressed by her costume since she looks like a pirate..i was hoping that the hat in her wudang costume (the one where she's in a monk's robe?) would cover more of her forehead as that angle emphasizes her small jaw and large forehead more for some reason. anyhow, i can't wait to see how much she improved after her wudange training. i'm not expecting her to be an awesome kung fu artist/expert, but i hope it's miles ahead of her funny performance in cp3.

i can't get over how beautiful she looks in the painted skin series. the make up artist and hair stylist did a fantastic job with her looks in that series. it's too bad we can't see her in another wuxia series soon where she can look so gorgeous in such a simple way too!

Yang Mi at Milan Fashion Week

Following her new burst of popularity earlier this year, actress Yang Mi made her entrances into both the fashion and music world this year. At this fall’s Milan Fashion Week, poor Yang Mi was mistaken for Fan Bingbing most of the time, but hey, at least it got her coverage, and the red outfit definitely seems like something Fan Bingbing would wear. Her outfits in the show really wants me to see her star in a modern fashion drama that’s not Symphony of Fate. If China ever did Gossip Girls, she would be the perfect Blair.

so sad that people still can't tell asians apart. they don't look alike. though their eyes are big, they are shaped very much differently, and their faces are shaped so differently. i guess it's better to be mistaken for another attractive asian than for someone average looking, huh?

Actually I don't think it was that bad. Only one major international media report referred to her as "Fan Bingbing". Most did actually ask and get her name right...it's just that as usual, the Chinese media honed in on that one mistake and blew it into something bigger, so YM keeps getting asked "how do you feel about being mistaken for FBB??" And anyways, I can see how non-Asians could find them similar. As you said, FBB is also a gorgeous actress and fashion icon, so, as YM herself puts it when responding to the questions, she takes it as flattering to be compared to FBB.

swtaznlaydee, it's funny that the cfensi post says YM would be a good Blair because earlier today I saw a thread in YM's baidu forum comparing her looks to Olivia Palermo (i.e. "real-life" Blair Waldorf). (Yeah, it didn't make much sense to me...) I definitely think YM could pull it off but since I'm not a big fan of modern idol dramas, I'd rather she focus her energies on other things. Besides, I thought there already was a Chinese version of "Gossip Girl"...could be wrong though.
