Default Hi everyone, I am new here! ;)

Finally registering an account here now. Phew, that took a while. So hi, everyone!

So I'll be popping in and out of the forum (probably not as frequently as I would want to) from now on.

And I FINALLY posted some new updates (hope that in the holiday season, I'll be able to find some free time to post some more). So enjoy!

    HIP HIP HURRAY!

Welcome aboard Lanny. It's good to see that Real Life (TM) hasn't completely eaten you up =)

BTW, did you set up the ads correctly? Or do they take time to work? I only see a Google Search bar...

Hi Lanny, glad to see you here. Did you get the email I sent you about 2 weeks ago, regarding your XAJH translation? I sent it to your gmail address listed on the site.

When I tested the ads, I can always see the top ad banner. The bottom ad block sometimes do not show. Don't know why. Have you tried refreshing the page? Please let me know. You can email me directly if you want. Thanks!

    Hi Candide,

Yes, I got the email. Have lots of unanswered emails right now, and I am finally getting to them. I'll reply to your email tonight. The gmail email address is the correct one.

    Best,
    Lanny

Thanks mate. Sorry to bother you. I know that you're very busy with work and being a father but it must be fun! Glad to see you around here.

    Cheers,

    Holy hell, Lanny!

Your erstwhile translation of XAJH was one of the main reasons I became so interested in the novels themselves (both translated and my own torturous readings) rather than adaptations, and one of the main reasons I eventually joined spcnet.

    Holler atcha!

    1. in your translation, do you get frustrated at certain parts? for example, shaking your head and thinking, "would it be better if the story is changed to ..."? if so, can you give some examples?

    2. after a while, would you be able to read jy's mind? for example, you realize that "yes, it was what i exactly thought!"

    3. do you think that there will be a hsds 4th edition?

thks in advance, i promise more questions to come.

    1. I get frustrated all the time because of my limited mastery of the English Language and because of the rich cultural background that would be so difficult to translate into a different cultural environment. But the thought of changing the story never came across my mind because this story is such an excellent piece. Although I did manage to find some minor slips in JY's writing and I (boldly) corrected them in my translation.

    2. Nope. JY's mind is too deep and broad. He is a great master of storytelling, the Chinese language, history, religion, .... Just look at all those characters he created. There's a piece of him in each of them.

    3. I think not. But what do I know?

No words can express my appreciation for your translations.
