the actress who play as the police head, she has long hair and she also play as the mother of "law,ka-leung gallen" in 90's version of "legend of condor heroes" and also as the wife of "ng,tak-wah lawrence" in "Healing Hands".

Tai Fook Sang (Gordon Lam) lost his parents when he was young and has lived in an orphanage since, there he met two good friends who he has grown up with who are Lau Yee Sok (Benny Chan) and Ko Wai Ting (Nicola Cheung). Open and optimistic Sang is full of love and honour and is big brother to Sok and Ting.

Ting was adopted when she was eight years old, but she has kept in touch with Sok and Sang and their friendship has been maintained. Sok is easy going, but is lazy as ever and lives each day in a bit of a daze. Ting has always had feelings for Sang, but these are not reciprocated and she can only keep her feelings to herself and even help her big brother to woo his dream date Wan Suet Yee (Michelle Yip).

Yee is beautiful and intelligent and not content with commonness. When she meets a rich boy Kwok Kai Bong (Chan Kin Fung) she heads straight for him. Sang is not disheartened because of this, instead he strives to face life. Eventually Sang meets another woman in his life in Yuk Hiu Kwan (Kenix Kwok).

Kwan shows a carefree and reckless side to her, but inside she is lonely and helpless. Sang sees through her problems and with his warmth and love, melts the ice in her. However, the good times don't last and just as the two accept each other, Kwan finds out that she has a terminal illness...

Ling Wan (Firstly Anne - later Marianne) and Chor Chor (vice versa) are playmates from an early age and because of their faces, they are selected to enter the palace.

Wan had lost her mother when she was young and lived with her father (Hui Siu Hung). In order not to marry and leave her father, she makes herself look ugly to avoid likely suitors. On an occasion when they are out in the gardens, she rescues the emperor (Eddie Cheung) who is on his travels in disguise and he falls in love with her. After returning to the palace, the emperor cannot forget Wan and decides to make her his empress. After Chor finds out about this, she is full of jealousy and tricks Wan into going to the home of a magician (Marco Ngai) who uses his powers to change the faces of the two girls and without a hitch, the fate of them both are switched.

With Wan's face, Chor enjoys the riches and splendours of the palace; whilst poor Wan can only bear all that Chor has left after being betrayed by her friend, with a father who doesn't recognise her and a home to which she cannot return. Wan becomes more and more angry and feels more and more hard done by so she finally decides to go to the capital and find the emperor to tell him what has happened and to gain her justice. However, Chor is not one who will take opposition lightly and Wan's life is turned into chaos.

Will the truth finally emerge? With their faces changed, will their lives also be changed forever?

Superintendant of the Anti-Organised Crime Unit Cheung Kwok Fung (Roger Kwok) hates evil and is meticulous in his investigations and logical in his analysis, a natural police officer. He loves his work and because of his spell undercover gave up his family life for it.

Serious Crime Squad Superintendant Chau Ka Wing (Nick Cheung) is Fung's colleague and best friend and sees his mission in life is to rid the world of villains. Fung and Wing often argue about their work, but this does not stop their co-operation.

Chin Nga Lai (Fennie Yuen) wants to show what she can do in Fung's team, but Fung gives her clerical work to do, making her very unhappy.

At first, Lai feels nothing good towards Fung and Wing, because she thinks that Fung is a heartless man who left his wife and child and Wing has a seedy private life. However, after working together with them, she finds out more about their backgrounds.

Wing madly wants to date Lai, but after being with him for a while, she cannot stand his perfectionist nature. At this time, Lai finds that she has fallen in love with Fung, but she can't bear to split with Wing because of the death of his mother. A complicated triangular love affair ensues and simple-minded Lai cannot deal with this, she tells Fung her feelings, but Fung does not want to steal the love from Wing. When Wing finds out, the two friends face a split...

Famous Chinese herbalist Cheung Si Sang (Woo Fung) has passed his business to his son Wai On (Ko Hung) since his wife died, but On is not ambitious and the reputation of the herbalist goes down the drain. Sang's grandson Yee Fai (Roger Kwok) is works for a big medicine company Bo Wo Tong and his hard work and determination attracts Ng Sin Yu (Charmaine Sheh), who is working as a junior because she does not want to benefit from her father who owns the company. Fai thinks that Yu has been sent to spy on his out of work dealings on the side and makes life tough for her; Yu finds Fai quite amusing and takes steps to get to know him.

Fai has to go to Shanghai for work and at the same time find an old friend for his grandfather. Yu goes with him as his secretary, causing Fai no end of problems. When Yu finds that Fai must carry out his grandfather's final wish and helps him out and the two find themselves falling in love. Through his searches, Fai meets Kuk Yat Siu (Derek Lee) and Chinese doctor Keung Sum Yuet (Melissa Ng), then is shocked to find that Siu is actually his half brother with the same father.

Meanwhile, to rescue her father's business, Yu is forced to marry a rich guy (Kwok Yiu Ming); To gain a contract with famous Chinese doctor Keung Tit To (Wong Wai), Fai must return to Shanghai. Fai has the chance to get to know Siu better and the two brothers work together to build their herbal medicine business. During this time, Fai and Yuet spend a lot of time together and just as their relationship gets started, they hear the news that Yu has developed cancer...
