[Channel U] SuperBand. Support O.S.T Yuan Sheng Dai

Yuan Sheng Dai, otherwise known as O.S.T (Original Sound Tract), is an all-male a cappella sextet formed in January 2006 comprising of: a lead singer, lead harmoniser, 1st and 2nd tenors, bass and vocal percussionist.

The members hail from diverse backgrounds and professions, ranging from dentist to undergraduate. What unites these members, however is the passion for a cappella music.

O.S.T Yuan Sheng Dai had managed to get into the Top 18 groups for Superband 2006 organised by Channel U.

Well... I wouldn't start supporting any band until I've actually see them perform. Going by how disappointing the past talent search shows had been in terms of actual talent, I do not really have high hopes for the Superband. However, since bands are infinitely more interesting than individual singers (group dynamics, synergy, variety of people), I am actually looking forward to show. Will keep a look out for Yuan Sheng Dai when the show starts airing.

You will be able to see them on 25 March at Suntec Wheel of Fortune. The big jam will be held there. The details will be confirmed later and sent through the yahoogroups. However, you should be able to find the details on Channel U website.

Anybody watching Superband season 2?

The bands have been less than impressive (understatement), but somehow I am addicted to the show, watching it every Monday if I'm home. Last week's theme was Mayday, all the bands had to pick a Mayday song to sing. As a die hard Mayday fan, painful does not begin to describe the experience of watching them belt out Mayday hits. This weeks was... I don't know, cover songs? They had to sing the songs in Chinese and Japanese/Korean. Very cringe-worthy.

Next year the crown prince makes his national day rally speech, he should quote Superband and Project Superstar as evidence of Singapore sorely lacking in talents, therefore the need to naturalise more foreign singers.
