I think LHC is not really very experienced when it comes to sneak attack combat and in previous times he was always ready to die (since he was sick and knew that he couldn't get well) and didn't have a care but in this situation he has the chance to clear his name and be re accepted to the environment he was so happy in. That also affects his senses.

I hope that he will get out of this without lots of injuries.

However, he quickly somersaulted using the "Carp’s Leap" move and landed on his feet. Then he leaned back against the wall.

The two old men lightly jumped down and approached him separately from his left and right. The bald old man smiling fiercely said, "I've given you one life but you didn't wanna go." If I remember correctly in the original Chinese novel the manual is on a 袈裟 jia1sha1. It is usually translated as cassock, sometimes kasaya (Sanskrit I believe). It is the piece of cloth they wear over their robes and not the robes itself. Hope this helps. Keep it coming!

You're right, SmokeyTheBear. It's "jia sha". It is called kasaya, but I've just searched on the topic on google and it's also commonly referred to as Buddhist robe.

For those who don't know about it, this kasaya isn't that thick or big so LHC would be able to fold it and put it in his bosom. But it would still be obvious to the naked eye that you're carrying a big bundle.

Not true. In most instances of JY's stories, without prior practice, martial artists lose a great deal of ability when placed in unfamiliar circumstances.

This includes being plunged into darkness (blinded), put into narrow confines, and dumped into water. So for LHC to be hit by a sneak attack in the dark isn't surprising at all (especially considering he still managed avoid being killed instantly).

If LHC practiced, then he start to be able to listen for moves with his ears, but he'd still be less effective. Fo example, the blind MCF vs young GJ. MCF was way better than GJ but GJ could overpower her if he used silent blows that apply full power at the last minute. However, when they were first plunged into darkness, GJ was having great trouble.
