    Default ATV's Justice Pao series

    There's about 15-16 cases in all. I think ATV's Justice Pao is slightly better than TVB's Justice Pao, although both came out in the same year(1995). The characters, substories and cases are interesting and exciting, not quite predictable as TVB's Justice Pao. Yes, its more suspenseful, ATV did pretty well. They had a mixture of taiwanese and hk actors and actresses acting in this series. I like it a lot!

    Plus, I think Ray Lui's Zhan Zhao has more human like emotions than Felix Wong's, Felix's just seem too heroic and we just don't know him personally as Ray's.

    I watched almost all the cases in this series except some are missing and I'm currently watching the case with Steve Ma Jing Tao. I looked on ebay for this series and it seems the cases are out of order, I know because Erica Choi's character likes ZZ it happens later and Erica Choi's foster father becomes the imperial sorcerer also later on in the series, so Steve Ma's case couldn't be the first case. Anyone else watched this series?

    Here's the poster for his case:

    I actually watched 4 of these series. They were actually pretty good but on the fourth season (or whatever it was) the story was centered more around a certain couple. I couldn't see Judge Pao for about 5 episodes. Overall it was ok. I didn't like the fact that Judge Pao's niece left and he never told Trien Chieu where she went.

    Here's a picture of some of the cast, not everyone.

    Steve Ma’s Justice Pao case supposed to be the last case of a series of ATV Justice Pao 95 cases instead of Justice Pao 1.

    There are other 4 cases related to Steve’s case in which Erica Choi appeared as a goddaughter of a Taoist priest.

    1st case – Vivian Chen’s case.
    She was an orphan, eventually adopted by the foster mother of Justice Pao. She became Ray’s first love Rong Rong. I can’t remember why she left Ray at the end of the case.

    2nd case – Laurence’s case (I don’t know his Chinese name. He portrayed as Zhan Zhao in the Heroic Legend of the Yang Family and the Great General. The case title endures “the murder of biological mother”. His biological parents were Erica’s godfather Taoist priest and a hooker. He was a scholar, adopted by a minister.

    3rd case – the case of a supporting actor from Tattooed Flower (a young servant of Steve Ma’s character). His girlfriend was a victim of a bad guy. She was pushed from a hill and lost her memories. Erica saved her life.

    4th case – the case of an actor from Fated Love (a younger brother of Steve Ma’s character) and Annie Man. The case is quite similar to the Yang family warriors. Annie Man was the young servant of his family. He was a drug addicted, his entire family was about to execute by the king of Sung. Erica’s godfather sold the drugs.

    5th case – Steve Ma’s case

    Erica had a crash on Ray. In either 3rd case or 4th case, Erica took a risk and saved Ray’s life. Ray thanks to her and wanted to take care of her but she knows that his love was entirely on his first love, Vivian Chen’s character. These were retold in Steve’s case.

    I haven’t watched Felix version though in my opinion Kenny Ho’s portrayal as Zhan Zhao is the best. Ray’s ZZ is not bad as well. I don’t like Jiao En Jun’s portrayal of ZZ. He looked handsome as ZZ though his role as ZZ was just too weak. He doesn’t look Zhan Da Sha. I prefer him as Bai Yu Tan more. He and Ray is a good match in that case.

    I have a doubt that Steve's character in this case and Amy Chan & Gilbert Lam's characters in Heroines of the Yang were the disciples of Huashen See Yi Lau Zu.

    That Case you spoke of with Annie Man, that actress was not Annie Man. Gilbert Lam had appeared in two different cases though.

    It seems I've missed some of the beginning cases.

    Do you know the order of the cases from beginning to end and which one is to be first to last?

    Chan See Yi: Lao Zu, is he a real person or just a fictional character? Never heard of him outside of Heroine of the Yangs and Justice Pao.

    I don’t know the order of the cases. I watched some of ATV Justice Pao cases not in orderly 7/8 years ago. I think the order of the cases was not a big deal since most are seperate cases except Steve Ma's and other related cases.

    These are posters of the cases related to Steve Ma's case:
    1st case – Vivian Chen’s case.
    She was an orphan, eventually adopted by the foster mother of Justice Pao. She became Ray’s first love Rong Rong. I can’t remember why she left Ray at the end of the case.
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/stevecorner/ATV%20Justice%20Pao%201995/JusticepaoIII.jpg')

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/stevecorner/ATV%20Justice%20Pao%201995/justicebao8.jpg')

    3rd case – the case of a supporting actor from Tattooed Flower (a young servant of Steve Ma’s character). His girlfriend was a victim of a bad guy. She was pushed from a hill and lost her memories. Erica saved her life.
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/stevecorner/ATV%20Justice%20Pao%201995/justicepao1213.jpg')

    Oh yes, the girl in this case wasn’t Annie Man.
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/stevecorner/ATV%20Justice%20Pao%201995/justicebao9.jpg')

    Some other cases I've seen:
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/stevecorner/ATV%20Justice%20Pao%201995/justicebao6.jpg')
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/stevecorner/ATV%20Justice%20Pao%201995/justicebao7.jpg')
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/stevecorner/ATV%20Justice%20Pao%201995/justicepao1011.jpg')
    You might know those cases already. Storylines were not too bad but I like Steve Ma's case and other related cases most.

    A case of veteran actress from Green Green Grass By The River (Steve Ma's godmother) and Liu De Kai's case wasn't bad as well. Liu De Kai was murdered (beheaded) in his case.

    No idea about See Yi Lao Zu. If he is a fictional character, was Kong Sun a fictional character as well? Kong Sun master was Lao Zu’s one of disciples. That’s why Kong Sun called Steve’s character as Xiao See Shao, right? If I remember correctly, other than Heroines of the yangs and Justice Pao, atv also mentioned Mei Hua Yi Su (fingers counting method) that acquired by Steve’s character in the Heroic Legend of the Yang Family and the Great General. Joey Man’s character granddad passed it over to her. The characters may be existed in the legend though, mei hua yi su method still exists I reckon. A friend of mine can work out the days and the dates of a month by using fingers counting method. He just needs to know the day of the beginning of a year.

    Here is a list of ATV Justice Pao series available at yesasia. They used same posters for different cases. That’s too stupid or too lazy!!

    Thanks for the info. ejc999!

    Yay, I finally get to see Case #1 with Vivian Chen. Theres so many guest stars in this series.

    Kingdom Yuen is in this case too, she looks so young, I wonder how old she is now. TVB always make her look so ugly but she actually looks pretty in her costume and hair. I like the first part of episode 1 where Justice Pao is invited down to Hell and stuff pretty interesting.

    Actually, I don't think he's in this case but you can watch it here: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=Tai+The+Tinh+Thu

    Gilbert Lam starred in two cases, where he was a ghost and the other he was a scholar.

    I'm watching the case with Austin Wai and man he's sure has aged since the 80s. The good thing is he isn't given those expressionless coldblooded swordsman anymore. Its just his aging looks kinda hinders his performance in facial expressions. I guess that doesn't help much does it? Hahah...

    Okay I found it. Gilbert Lam's case starts right after Ruby Lin's case in the link below. About 34 minutes or so into the video, Gilbert Lam's case starts.

    I also enjoyed the ATV version of Justice Pao more than TVB's version. The cases to me seemed more interesting although TVB really put a lot of big names into the series. I'm a huge Felix fan, but I prefer Ray's portrayal. He seemed a little more flamboyant than calm and collective Felix. I actually thought TVB spent too much screen time on Dik Lung rambling on as well.

    TVB put alot of big names?

    ATV did too! They managed to get some popular Taiwanese actors and Michael Miu Kiu Wai (Mr. Chor Lau Heung of TVB's 1984 adaptation) and Austin Wai (who was also in Chor Lau Heung 1984 as Yi Dim Hong, CLH's friend). Heck, they even got the original Justice Pao, that did the Taiwanese Justice Pao series and also the actor who played GongSun Ce. Even better! ATV's is really less predictable, you don't always know who the bad guy is or why they do the things they do. While TVB's just so easy to solve the case and they overdo the emotional factor. I really like how ATV got a mixture of Hong Kong and Taiwanese actors and actresses in this series. Not that I don't like TVB's cast, its just great to see veteran actors like Miu Kiu Wai and Austin Wai acting again, even after retirement.

    I'm not trying to point out that ATV's cast wasn't great. In fact, both had good cast members and I'm a huge fan of Michael from Chor Lau Heung and Austin from the Return of Luk Siu Fung and Mo Lam Sing Fau Ling. I'm just trying to say that TVB's Justice Pao made a huge effort to throw out as many names out there as possible. With the absence of Yang's Saga, Justice Pao is "arguably" the series with the most stars TVB has ever put together for a series; Dik Lung, Felix Wong, Liu Kai Chi, Ada Choi, Maggie Siu, Michelle Mei, Patrick Tam, Irene Wan, Leo Ku, Chin Siu Ho, Ben Ng, Ha Siu Sing, Noel Leung, Angie Cheung, Evergreen Mak, Sunny Chan, Wai Ying Hung, Leung Ka Yan, Fiona Leung, Esther Kwan, Jackie Lui, Wan Yeung Ming, Cheung Kwok Keung, etc...

    ATV have a much better interesting storyline with appropriate casts that makes it more interesting to watch.

    Sometimes TVB don't know how to produce a fresh interesting storyline so TVB copied the Taiwan's 1990's version of justice bao--one of its stories.

    Taiwan's 1990's version of justice bao ---the story that TVB copied its already released on vCD boxset for purchase.

    I agreed TVB's version is very predictable & boring for example TVB copied almost exactly the main points of a story from Taiwan's 1990's version of Justice bao--about a woman (played by actress christine Ng wing mei) forced being nailed to the wooden board to be drowned to death because villagers accused her of adultery which was mainly not her fault.

    that woman's husband know the truth that she did not actually intent to commit adultery because he was the one who set her up with other man to sleep with her so she can become pregant to have a baby son. the woman's husband is sterile but he is forced by his mother to have a son with his own wife or he will be forced to divorce her & marry other woman as his new wife to have a son.

    the woman did have a baby-son with other man other than her husband set up by her own husband, her husband thinks after making the man who have an affair with his wife leave, all 3 of them-himself & his wife & the baby-son will live happily after. he will pretend the baby its his biological son lying to everyone.
