    Default The Animals/Pets in Wuxia Novels

    I thought there was a thread on the animals/pets in wuxia novels like the ones by Jin Yong but I guess,there was none...until now.

    Let's list the pets and their owners? What special abilities did the animal have? Which owner was best at using these animals to their advantage?

    And whether you think OuYang Feng's snakes or Zhong Ling's pets were more poisonous?

    I know Jin Yong feature a lot of animals/pets in his novels, what about the other authors?

    Of course Zhong Ling's thing was more deadly...it eats poisonous snakes for breakfast...it's going to devour OYF's weak snakes in seconds...

    Ying Gu: Silver Marten or something

    Guo Jing: Blood Sweat Horse (speed) & 2 white condors (flight rescue + messenger)

    Yang Guo: Yellow Horse & Condor (more friend than pet)

    Xiao Long Nu: jade bees (for defence and offence)

    Zhang Wu Ji: jade face monkey (in 1st edition. Eats bear brains)
    silver, gold snakes (for detecting poison)

    Ouyang Feng: poisonous snakes

    i was going to start a thread like this too. so i'll ask my question here. besides Ouyang Feng and Xiao Long Nu, did any other character use 'armies' of animals or insect?

    i recall quite a few who had pets but besides these two i don't remember anyone having an army.

    sure...in ROCH...the Shi Brothers had armies of animals that will fight for them. Elephants, Tigers, Lions, Eagles, etc.

    ying gu had two nine-tailed foxes. the ice palm monk in DGSD had an icy silkworm as a pet. the one that bit You Tan Zhi.
