I'm surprised that Shota no Sushi was mentioned here. I always thought that in this world, only 1-2 people had seen it (the live version, not the manga).
For me, I loved it, consider it one of my all time faves (might be top 10 or 15). Takashi Kashiwabara never had anything that good since then (hated It Started With A Kiss).
Til this day, I dislike Korean dramas, so I've not been visiting this forum much (considering that out of the 3218203482048230438024802209482048204280 threads here, only 1 or 2 are about Japanese ones). I haven't been watching as many Japanese dramas as before, probably only 1-2 series per year.
The latest one I bought was Trick 3. Great stuff.

I watched Trick 1, but not Trick 2 when it was shown in Cable TV. Think I was busy at that time, or wanted to watch something different.
When I watched Trick 1, i was quite mesmerised by it. the ending is quite a twist in tale, and there is slight 'suspense' and 'horror', although at a very low degree.
just finished watching Stand Up !! quite entertaining and funny!!
I recommend
GTO
You Are My Pet [Kimi Wa Petto] << --SOO CUTE
yes ! one of my first J-drama ... highly recommended .. Nanako Matsushima and hubby Takashi Sorimachi
Good Luck starring Takura Kimuya (the hottest guy ever!)
Eric Bana= Hot
Brad Pitt= GOD
i'm really sad that there is no single japanese drama that has been played here in PH.. only Korean and Taiwanese I don't know why though Japanese cartoons has dominated Philippine television...
I have watched that S.O.S. thing in cable with Kyoko Fukada (I searched in the net when I finished watching "Friends") ... BUT! It's in Chinese

does anyone know the english name for this japanese actress:
this is chinese"shen how bak wai", apparently she was a very famous actress in the 1970's but retired at the height of her career to marry her famous co-star. they appeared in many japanese series together, i think one of the most famous was about how the main couple fell in love and got married but then found out that the female character had leukimia. I think she is 45 now. if anyone knows her english translation name please reply. thanks

I read in papers few years ago that she divorced her husband. the report mentioned last time she married the male actor at the height of her career.......and now they are divorced...what a pity.
She's Yamaguchi Momoe. Retired at the age of 20 in 1980 (THAT'S HOW OLD I AM NOW!!!!)
The late Anita Mui had wanted to be like her, unfortunately, she never fulfilled this wish.
Not the founder of J-dramas, don't be silly, I'm sure there were black and white ones long time ago. But she's quite possibly one of the first huge Japanese artiste who was famous all over Asia. (and til this day, her type of popularity was rivaled by very few people) But she IS considered by many as the first 'idol star' ever. The grandmama of J-pop idols.
For an interesting article about her. Come to http://www.china.org.cn/english/China/79372.htm

GTO depressing? How depressing?Originally posted by eeyore
I think I saw under the same roof 1, not the 2nd one.. and no GTO, I saw the summary seems abit too depressing.. he,he,he...
If I judge everything by the summary only, I'm sure I'll be missing out a lot of series.

watching is better than just reading.
