my fav anime is saiyuki (season 1). the manga is quite good as well. lots of action, comedy, and it's well drawn to boot! what more could you ask for?

Can you believe it... there is actually a manga that makes me cry!! It is called Tokyo Crazy Paradise... Love it so much!!

TOKYO CRAZY PARADISE contains a lot of actions and is very funny to read (except for one really sad chapter)!!! The intrigue is excellent... Sometimes the characters' body looks disproportionate, but who cares since the story is 5/5... Though, I find that we see the main character's breasts a little too often...

---> I know I should summarize the story of the mangas I recommend, but I never bother to do that because I'm not good at summarizing... What a lame excuse... he, he..

omg!pem! i, too, love saiyuki! its my all time fave anime! the story is quite ordinary...but the scenes are awesome! the charcters were created with much life that i really find it easy to relate with them! the 4 main characters were superb, especially sanzo n gojyo ,which r my personal faves! it was perfectly made that i must say it gets me more involved than some live action dramas! i always rewatch it n never get tired of doing so

yep, to me, it was the perfect anime. even the voice actors were excellent. seasons 2 and 3 weren't as good, but still pretty darn good. i even love the villains, except fork hair boy...his name escapes me at this moment...the one with the mullet...not really villain. anyways, i LOVE hakkai. he cracked me up in the movie. where he called the villain a crossing dressing freak with a bird fetish. i have subsequently used that line to describe nic tse in the promise.

yea the voice actors were great! i searched them in the net n they definitely dont look like how they sound! but despite that, i stil appreciate them coz of their talent havent seen the ova yet...cant seem to get my hands on it...always out of stock! argh! hav u seen the clips (like a behind the scene thing) of saiyuki? one scene was goku removing hakkai's earpiece, then hakkai transforms into a youkai, then goku puts it back, then removes it agen...then hakai (goku thought he was asleep) suddenly said, oh goku, please stop that...it was hilarious!

i didn't know saiyuki had an ova.

and those "behind the scenes" are the urasai from the second season. i like the paper sumo ones.

oh, that's not an ova. it's the movie. and they sell it at fye. i saw it from netflix. it's really good, and it's also the last time you get to hear the adv voice actors. seasons 2 and 3 are geneon. the geneon voice actors killed me. so horrible, i had to switch over to japanese. on the movie dvd, under special features, they have a commentary from the adv actors, and it's hilarious. sanzo's guy sounds nothing like sanzo. and the guy who plays hakkai is in a schoolhouse rock play

actually, a lot of ppl say the voice actors who did season one and requiem are even bettter than the japanese. that just made season 2 seem that much worse.

yeah, season one was dubbed by adv which is known for having pretty high quality dubbing. they also dubbed full metal panic, orphen, dn angel, etc.

seasons 2 and 3 are dubbed by geneon...which sucks. and i watch those seasons in japanese.

ever since i intro-ed Animax to my niece and nephew, they've been watching it just after they finish school. ^.^ But I don't watch coz I hate dubs, I prefer the original seiyuus (voice actors/actresses) as they're called. I download my animes or get them from people. And, if they're licensed I get them from the stores.

I practically enjoy watching series-type anime. The longwinded storylines, the simplicity of their characters, how the main female ends up with the main male are certain aspects I love. For example, Karin: I didn't think her character design was pretty compared to her sister and her youthful grandma. Her hair color was too dark and boring compared to her siblings, but she made a simple yet interesting character: a blood-producing vampire. She bites people to release her blood into them. At the same time, she reduces sadness from them. When her blood overflowed and screamed, it made the whole series amusing. heehee. The only flaw was they made her figure erotic.

I like amusing series, too. I'm practically falling for a new anime series called Tales of Saiunkoku. The storyline was based on a nonexistent Chinese kingdom called Saiunkoku. The story was pretty natural, and there you have the main female screaming her head off again. Here, she has a better reason to scream coz she's a schoolteacher. The girl, Shuurei, was an ambitious female who just wanted to become an official. The main male is, surprisingly, the emperor who loves her. Well, this story reminds me of when I was writing Crimson Dust (formerly I called it Crimson Rain). Same palace "Da Chang Jin" style, main character was female, and also main character was only 17. The emperor in Saiunkoku was 19, by the way. Then, the story is perhaps about some teenages acting really mature! I find it cool..

Oops, before I go overboard with my lengthy descriptions again..

this is Japan anime update of Korean's Goong or Princess Hour, and its not Da Chang Jin, its DAE JANG GEUM!, I know I understand, chinese just translate everything into their own...

Da Chang Jin is translated version (Mandarin). All Korean series here where I live are bilingual. I just couldn't remember the english title. Yup.. chinese trans japan and korea..oh ya..just thought of it..maybe it's Jewel of the Palace.

Princess Hour? Heard of it but duno wats it abt. Care to tell? And i tot Princess Hr is a modern series..

But its strange though for Japanese animators to make an anime about a nonexistent China kingdom. P'haps, thats becoz many Jap culture is copied/borrowed from China.

Reviving the nearly dead thread -

Winter season anime has just started, I am currently only following two shows, that might change though. I am watching Nodame Cantabile, mainly because I really like the live action of the show. I have high expectations for the anime, and it did not disappoint (at least, not yet), it took a while to get used to the voices of the main characters but so far the anime has been alot of fun to watch even though I know what to expect. For folks who like Honey & Clover, Nodame Cantabile has a very similar feel to it, but it's alot less slice of life than H & C.

Another anime that I would recommend would be Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou, the first episode absolutely rocks; with bouts of random madness along with crazy monks, monster puppeteers, swords waving bishonens and dried up zombies. The anime is adapted from the game of the same name (oh wow, how that rhymes!), the first episode moved very fast; sleek animation, very cool fight scenes and a great amount of gore. Not to mention intriguing characters and great character design, looking forward to the second episode already!

I can't be bothered to write synopsis for the animes, just go google for it. Try out both shows, excellent stuff.

I am currently watch X, by Clamp. It's drawn so pretty, and it's slightly bishie. interesting plot, and i would recommend it if you like the whole guys with wings battling to save the world thing. it's sorta of like angel sanctuary without the incest and the Bible references every other word.
