Default Lee Chum Foon using the dagger as a melee weapon (close quarters; no throwing option)

We all know how deadly Lee Chum Foon's dagger is when it's thrown.

But how well would Lee Chum Foon do in a close quarters fight using the dagger as a melee weapon, but where he doesn't have the option of throwing it?

Let's say he's fighting a fairly good opponent in a very tight space...say something like an old style telephone booth. It's crowded in there. He can barely straighten out his arm, let alone wind up and throw his dagger.

He's got to duke it out with the dagger in hand, but no option to throw. How will he do?

In all the instances where LXH used the dagger, there was no reference or indication to show him actually stretching out his arm in the stereotypical 'throwing' motion. Its the usual GL BS about how the dagger is thrown with the heart and not the hand.

As long as he can twitch his finger, he can throw the dagger. Somehow.

Even so, if he chose to use the dagger as a handheld weapon rather than a projectile weapon, can he do well in a conventional knife fight?

Definitely. If he was so restricted in the use of his dagger, Li Xun Huan would not be Li Xun Huan.

For evidence, see his fight with Guo Song Yang.

He threw the dagger then too, I recall, but went way easy on Gwok because he considered Gwok a good man and good friend.

Nuh-uh... He went easy by not throwing the dagger when Guo's defence was open. The final stroke had Li holding the dagger and meeting Guo's sword head on (without throwing it), result, Guo's strike was stopped but Li was left holding a dagger with a broken tip.

If his hand-held dagger was good enough to stop Guo's sword, its good enough to kill virtually anyone else under heaven.

Very interesting. Do you think Lee could have done the same to Ah Fei?

LTH could hold it in his hand and use it with palm stikes, but with cutting power.
