Nobody mentioned Alec Su as ZWJ in HSDS03? Shame on you.

as far as miscasts go, it would be the entire Taiwanese cast of Richie Ren's ROCH - XLN didn't even wear white at ALL. I didn't like Gallen Lo as Yang Hang.

oh, there are a lot more; those just don't qualify under "excruciatingly painful", that's all. start a thread of the ones i like, and there are a few.

These are the more flattering pictures I manage to find of him.

He played Yang Kang in LOCH 1976 where Michelle Yim played Huang Rong and Bai Biao played Guo Jing.

His name is Liang Xiao Long.

I'm going to warn everybody now just to be sure: you're free to discuss and compare various actresses who have depicted Little Dragon Girl over the years, but if I see this thread devolving into the flame war nonsense I see on the Actresses Forum over that topic, this thread is going to be shut down.

    Am I making myself clear?

Charmaine Sheh in any TV adaptation would result in excruciating miscastings.

Agreed, Huang Xiao Ming is not right for Yang Guo, I think Allen Ting or any other handsome mainland actors would've been better for the role.

Having Felix Wong casted as Xiao Shi Yi Lang is a miscast, the character was not quite a hero but Felix's years of acting as a hero made Xiao's gestures become heroic-like.

The cast of DOMD2000 with Dicky Cheung ---MISCAST!

Li A Peng as Linghu Chong, there can be only one actor (so far) to portray LHC, and Li A Peng is not him.

I think Dicky made the WXB character fun and really brought out some of his mischievous qualities - its the script rewrites deviation from the novel that I cannot take!!! Same thing goes for the Legendary Siblings -- yikes!!!

HXM had the look physically (just not the hair). The acting though...PSHH!

Perhaps Alec Su has had enough panning from wuxia readers to deserve further mention, but .... since PJ asked ....

For a start, wimpy. Physically, ZWJ was tall; emotionally, he was soft but steadfast on certain important family and national issues. Alec Su was short, and he was so soft emotionally that he could not portray the steadfastness that was key to ZWJ's heroism.

To make things worse, Alec Su was also Zhang Cuishan in HSDS03. ZCS was supposed to be a little bit brash and a lot more stubborn when it came to holding on to his principles (especially prior to meeting Yin Susu), but Alec Su made him wimpy (again) and quite inconsequential. There was nothing in Alec Su's ZCS that spoke of the Wudang upbringing and fervour that ZCS and his brothers were famous for.

And to top everything off, there was hardly any difference between Alec Su's ZWJ and ZCS.

btw: If you haven't watched HSDS03, don't. But if you really want to, here are the only two reasons that I can come up with in support: (1) enjoyable opening/ending theme songs, and (2) pretty actresses [I think Chen Shasha/Zihan (Yin Li) and Alyssa Chia (Zhao Min) look the best, in that order].

I am wondering, has anyone successfully portrayed Zhang Wuji? How about Adam Cheng in HSDS 1979? The one actor who has played Zhang Wuji whom I envision to suit Zhang Wuji the most is none other than Ma Jingtao. A lot of people dislike him in HSDS 1993, but from what little I recall, he portrayed the indecisiveness quite well.

Tony Leung was cool too. His portrayal of Zhang Wuji was the complete opposite of his portrayal of Wei Xiaobao. Subtle, serious, but gentle.
Underneath the fluffly, cudly exterior lies the tormented and complex creature known as the panda.

Tony Leung was the most likeable Cheung Mo Gei. Some have said that Leung's portrayal of the character made the character more likeable than he is in the novel.
