Sorry lunar, I can't sing at all, I do sound good in the shower, to me at least...

And I do not want to be the William Hung of spcnet.

Join the comedic version competition! If you do it, I'll do it. Just disguise your voice, no one will ever know.

You know what, honestly, if many of you do not mind sounding bad, I am a gamer, I would not mind joining either. It's just I hear all these microphones, and software to do the voice thing, is it that complicated?

Can I do this? Record my voice to my phone, and then send the sound through the internet somehow??

Plus, how will the voting be? Will there be harsh criticism. For those like me who might join this and we sound terrible, we only do it for fun, I would not appreciate anyone posting harsh criticism.

I doubt that there will be very serious critics for this. . .I mean, it's just for fun, right?

That's why I suggested two separate competitions. For people like me, I know I'm not going to win anything, so I would rather join the "fun competition" and jsut sing for fun, maybe in a comedic/funny way to get laughs out of some people at my expense =P Obviously, it's lame to laugh at people in this competition since we already know we suck =P

And then you get the serious contenders who want to win the $20 award (yummy) so there can be some constructive criticisms there (but nothing harsh).

And I think people who make fun of themselves should get a reward too (non-monetary), like a title or something hehehe.

I'm jus using the recorder I use for lectures, so sure why not use your cell. Though you must have a good cell, since mine can only record 1 minute (probably should be enough, but my recorder has better quality). If you're not seriously competing, the quality isn't that important anyway =P

i dont think any1 here can sing, so it doesnt matter imo. my singing is horrible

I have another idea, I think people shouldn't have to identify ourselves at any point. There should be a blog set-up (maybe 0-0-0 would like to do the honors)? where people anoynymously leave comments with a download file of their sample. And then someone can host it and leave the links in spcnet where voting will take place.

And once the winner is annoucned, the winning member can identify themselves whereas whereas the identities of the rest of the people can be protected.

Actually we should have 2 separate categories: 1 for the serious contestants, and 1 fun category for people to make fun of themselves doing comedic versions of popular songs.

ok i hav a problem, i cant find a place where they sell miccrophones. there is this 1 expensive place that sells it for 30 dollars, but thats too much for me

you can just use your phone, mp3 player to record sound. even your camera if it records video, since you can just extract the sound.

Here are some other points i want to consider:
- two categories for the people entering who really can't hold a tune and the people that can
- a closing date for entries. In order to keep things anonymous for everyone else, i am going to upload all the files sent to me in one post to keep things even.

I expect that we will make constructive comments, but unlike other polls, I think there should be NO HARSH CRITICISM. When untalented celebs sing badly, we criticise because they're paid to sing and they can't. We're all doing this for fun!

There used to be a site banzou.cn where you could DL K music for free, but the copyright police shut it down a few months ago. I suggest using a software called Cooledit to record.
