well, i'm sure ppl who are entering won't be that interested in hiding their gender, if they're exposing their voices for all to hear.

i was thinking maybe 4 categories:

    girls acapella
    guys acapella
    girls with music background
    guys with music background

and then maybe a vote for the best between the winner of each category?

    LOL youre right....

This somehow reminded me of Jay Chou's high pitched voice in Hua Yun Jia's themesong. For my ear it wouldve been a female's voice....but then again, that might just be me

To all those who think they cant sing, or not good enough:

Bring up ur self-esteem!!!! I used to be like that, until i started singing lessons and people said i was great! and i used to be shy, not showing off my voice!!!! Even though im not quite mariah carey, but you still try! Im positive im not going to win, but im going to enter, as a game, and just as a exercise, and fun! cmon! If I can enter, so can you!!! I bet there are BEAUTIFUL voices out there, and are just afriad to show it to the world. Cmon! Join, no harm.

Its a good idea, problem being that if we dont havve enough people to enter, it wont be fair. It depends, if we have like 30+ , then it would work.

Another thing we have to consider: What program are we going to use, to record?

I bet everyone who said they sound awful or can't sing are most probably great singers that have a good voice. I think I might be surprised by a lot of 'crouching tiger hidden dragon' [卧虎藏龙] when 0-0-0 put up the songs.

    Check the first page.

I still don't know what should I use to record the song though. Not familiar with these voice recording stuff. The method I tried last time was only approriate for singing kiddy songs.

maybe if i use mp3 recorded to record voice...

but i wonder..would a bad recorder quality affect the fairness of the competition?

Does it have to be a competition? it can't be where we contribute or something?

Yeah, it would. . .but these are the technical things that each individual has to deal with since we have no other choice but record with our own equipment.

For those who has trouble finding mics. . .There are places that sell headsets w/ mics that are around $15. . .Target or Walmart, I think. I'm pretty sure if you live in the States, you won't have trouble finding one of those stores. If those are still too expensive, especially for just entertainment purposes. . .then another option if you still go to school. I think, at least mine does, some schools have filming, recording, and among other technical equipment that they lend out to students. . .if you tell them you're using it for a school project. It shouldn't be hard to borrow a mic for a few hours to record a song. These are just my suggestions. . .if these aren't good options for you, then good luck. ^^
Some of us needs to learn how to get our priorities straight and others need to start getting some priorities. . .

i bought my mic for US$7 at Staples. and it wasn't even the cheapest one. so the cost shouldn't deter ppl from entering the competition.
