    consider going for student discount (if you know a college student that can make the purchase @ the school store)... Ipod are rarely onsale, the only ones i've seen are the clearance one at target (50% off), they go quick though. The alternative is amazon and save on the tax.

    imthatlady: you purchased a refurbished camera off ebay and save 100 off Circuit city's retail price, not to rain on you, but that's an overprice purchase, refurbished item tends to be lower price than new (no duh), also as i've said, you can get it right now for 50 bucks less @ staples (no deal or anything, just straight up retail buy). anyways i just wanted to see the auction so i can get the exact price with shipping, stuff like shipping + tax does put the item price up by quite a bit when you move into the 300+ dollar range. And for some particular reason no one wanna buy refurbish item that has to do with imaging (tvs, camera ect...) I don't know why, but it seems like that's the trend.

    Yea, I admit to error in my decision to purchase this camera without researching in advance. I needed a camera for a trip and this version had just come out onto the market. Since Sony is a popular brand that is trusted by consumers, I bought into the hypes and made the purchase in haste. Lesson learned!

    if you bothered to read both reviews, the opinions are inconsistent. now which review do you trust? the one with the most 'marketing hype'?

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8247/8247293_ra.jpg')

    olympus stylus 760
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8245/8245491_sa.jpg')

    olympus stylus 780
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://a1672.g.akamai.net/7/1672/116/20070701/www.ritzcamera.com/graphics/products/5-75/large/541555975_bg.jpg')

    Since price are not listed i don't really know what to suggest, u make it alot easier by going for 1 brand, there won't be a whole lot of complication with price, usually the higher the better the camera will be.

    I guess its already too late to suggest:

    The important things about buying a compact digital camera (in order of importance):
    1) Having a nice optical zoom capability (digital zoom can reduce the quality of the image)
    2) Supporting RAW format if possible
    3) Other specifications and capability/format support (e.g. SLR, Image Stabilizer, etc)
    4) A good level of MP
    5) Price
    6) And frankly, for daily photographs, having more than 6 megapixals isn't that big of a deal, you're not going to be doing any professional photo-editing and touch-ups.

    As for brand, remember that brands such as Kodak, Nikon, etc have been in the photography business longer than brands such as Sony, Samsung, etc. So in the end with all these factors in consideration, the final choice is your's.

    And what's the use of buying a camera just because it looks fashionable and nice when it's either crap or a new model will come out later...

    The most importand factor of all is "Think SMART, Buy SMART"

    PS: Not sure anywhere else, but in the UK, Amazon-UK has cheaper prices for the same item than any other store I know. Just a few weeks ago, I found the same camera my friend wanted for 50 GBP on Amazon whilst the cheapest price for the same camera in a store was nearly 90 GBP. (Considering that 1 GBP = 2 USD, thats a huge price difference factor.)

    it's not about ratio, because you can pack 2GB into 1 card, so it's worth more, the 30/2GB is better.

    Which would you buy it if the prices were 1gig = $15 and 2 gig = $40?

    In this case, with only $30 I can get 2gigs (though 2 seperate cards, but which can be changed easily since while 1 card is being used to transfer pictures into your computer, you can use the second card to take more pictures.) I get 2gigs worth of memory and still save $10.

    It's all about the price ratio, unless of course you had extra money to spare. But technically having 2 cards is better then just relying on 1 card. Most good photographers carry several extra rolls of film, or in this case, carry several extra memory cards and usually have a small 12" laptop with them on the go.

    it's the carrying extra that no one wants, in digital storage the more compact the better.

    -_-

    i'm not asking which is the better deal. i'm no mathematician, but i know that 2gb > 1 gb. and that a 2gb for 30 bucks is $15/ gb < $18.

    what i'm asking, are these good prices for memory cards, as compared to prices elsewheres?
