    Default English Duets

I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good duets sung in English. Unlike Chinese pop music where almost everyone has sung a duet at some point, there seems to be a limited selection for English duets.

In fact, most I know of are Disney movie themes (awww nostalgia...):

    Somewhere Out There: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QC0Ew-2-48

    A Whole New World: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqGTb4ZFAS8

    At The Beginning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKiXTMHqdok

    Beauty and the Beast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHnvErJOL3o

I figure there's probably a lot more, especially from musicals, but I'll need some enthusiast to share ^-^

    Let me recommend a few:

Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes: "Up Where We Belong," an award-winning 1982 duet for the theme song of the Richard Gere movie AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN

Roy Orbison and k.d. lang: "Crying." A great 1987 duet rendition of Orbison's 1960s classic.

Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole: "Unforgettable." Thanks to the miracle of modern recording technology, Natalie Cole was able to duet with her late father on a 1992 remake of his 1950s classic "Unforgettable."

And during the holiday season, there's Bing Crosby and David Bowie's "Little Drummer Boy (Peace On Earth)" from the 1970s: couldn't imagine a less likely duet, but somehow, it worked.

    Ken,

Yeah, the Nate King Cole/Natilie Cole- Unforgettable, thats a great song, orignally wanted to do that song, also. But, it seems this not happening, anytime soon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53ith7bNN8w

    Mr.Illusion,
There are plenty of English duet songs, just that its kinda hard to list them all.

Here is one-Music of my heart-Nsync with Gloria Estefan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocjFCFoAexs

"You don't have to be a star"-Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr.
    "Let it Be"- Beatles
    "When I fall in love"-Natilie/Nat King Cole:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-b7d...elated&search=
    "Grease"
"Irreplacable"- By Beyonce sung by the Trio [Sheng, Maressa, Hera]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EFhO8GHpgk . They all did a wonderful job on the editing, 2 Thumbs up.
    "Beautiful Lair"-Beyonce: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZzUvx3tng8
"Shine" :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1sKd...elated&search= . I am kinda impressed, how the guy can sing like Shakira; Great job.
    "Butterfly"-Mariah Carey: Duet- Miko & AngelEye732: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giA1u3E8X9c

    And on and on...

Yeah, I stepping toward more English songs, now; mostly are old English songs.

Was that just a duet, though, or was it the entire ensemble cast? Many of the GREASE songs featured the Danny and Sandy characters as lead singers, but the rest of the cast usually got into the act too.

Grease song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8VsW...elated&search=, kinda sounded, like a very big singing Spcnet group project, for all the Spcnet particapants. Not sure, if I am joining . Its opened to anyone else, who really wanted to do this song, I did remember someone has asked about this song.

What about the Righteous Brothers (who weren't brothers, really, but who were definitely righteous)? They had a boatload of hits that were duets: "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," "Little Latin Lupe Lu," "You're My Soul and Inspiration," etc.

And then, there's the Everly Brothers (who really were brothers...and also righteous), whose entire catalogue was basically songs that the two brothers (Phil and Don) harmonized on: "Bye Bye Love," "All I Have To Do Is Dream," "Cathy's Clown," etc.

Then there are British two-part harmony groups from the 1960s, such as Peter and Gordon, who had "A World Without Love" and "I Go To Pieces."

Or how about the similar-sounding (and similar-looking) Chad and Jeremy, who had "A Summer Song" (great tune for this time of year).

And then, there's Simon and Garfunkel...with "Sound of Silence," "Homeward Bound," "Mrs. Robinson," "Scarborough Fair Canticle," "El Condor Pasa," and "Bridge Over Troubled Water," among others.

"All I Have To Do Is Dream," by the Everly Brothers and "Bridge over trouble waters." These two songs, I still remembered and the posted list of songs; there are so many greatest old classics, thanx for posting the list up.

One of my favourite male/female duets of all time is "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge (oh my Ewan McGregor!).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ePkMoRHErA

I'd actually like to try it some time, but I don't know too many guys in their right mind who'd want to attempt it with me! Speaking of Grease, my fave song from that'd have to be "Summer Nights." "Summer lovin', happened so fast..."

For people trying to do a group:

"Say it Right"- 9 people on youtube doing this song:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0MLWg7mdvg

yeah, this is real challenged; something I would never think of doing.

    Sparky,
Here is another from Moulin Rouge: Elephant Melody:

This is going to sound cheesy, but you should try the duets in "High School Musical" 1 and 2.

    Oh, so many choices.

One of my all-time favorites - more responsive than a true duet:

I have this on vinyl, tape, CD, and mp3...a great pick-me-up for post-failure depression.
