I was a fan of synth-pop in the late '80s and all the bands I liked were British except for the American band Information Society. Their breakout hit was 1988's "What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)".
My obsessions: Joy Division, New Order, Bones, The Office.

This thread should just be named "Old Farts Thread"

Last couple posts were soo nostalgic.

    Some more:

Send Me An Angel - Real Life

Rebel Yell - Billy Idol This guy used to have the cutest girls in his videos!

    Our House - Madness
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

I used to like "Pour Some Sugar on Me" very much. It's funny how taste can change quite a bit because I don't like it anymore.

Of the various trends in pop music during the 1980s, hair metal has proved the least durable. Not that there weren't some good hair metal songs, but for the most part, they haven't stood the test of time as well as some of the New Wave and R&B stuff.

    Prince is da man..err...the symbol!

At the time....I didn't understand him nor his music. But now I consider him a genious. His music was ahead of his time.

Yo yo yo! How could we forget Hip Hop?!

The Message - Grandmaster Flash (1982) "It's like a jungle sometimes!"

Ok this one is borderline but it's too good to leave out!

Another Brick in the Wall - Pink Floyd (1979)
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

Superstar duets were big in the 1980s, and it didn't get much bigger than when Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney dueted on several huge hits in the early 1980s. Michael Jackson was then the indisputed Prince of Pop: THE pop superstar of the 1980s (before controversy consumed his life and career). Paul McCartney was already a pop music legend in the 1980s who had dominated pop as a member of the Beatles during the 1960s and continued to be a superstar on his own and with his band Wings in the 1970s.

Perhaps Macca and Jacko's finest moment together in the 1980s: "Say, Say, Say"

    Come Undone - Duran Duran

My favourite song of Duran Duran!

I like Dark Side of the Moon from Pink Floyd but I'm alittle fearful to listen to you. Too depressing
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?

I'm probably the youngest to post here but I am a fan of the 80's. My guitar metal shred was born in that era plus all my favorite metal bands.

Modern English - Melt With You - Used on a Commercial now
The Smiths - This Charming Man - probably my favorite song from them
The Cure - Friday I'm In Love - I do not admit I like this song in public
Soft Cell - Tainted Love -
    Slayer - Raining Blood -
Metallica - Master of Puppets S&M
    Motorhead - Ace of Spades
    AC/DC - Back In Black
    After Hours - Velvet Underground
