Default "Iron-Faced Judge" - a very common nickname in wulin?

It seems that the nickname "Iron-Faced Judge" is somewhat common in wulin. In DGSD, there was an "Iron-Faced Judge" who was a figure in the mass coverup regarding the origins of Kiu Fung, and in LUK SIU FUNG, there was a character called "Iron-Faced Judge" who was a lackey of Fok Yau's Green Shirts Pavilion. I think another "Iron-Faced Judge" or two might have also shown up in other wuxia stories.

Were there many judges moonlighting as wuxia warriors, and did a number of them claim the nickname "Iron-Faced Judge?"

That's kind of more understandable, however, as "sabre" has obvious combat connotations. But "judge?" Judges are creatures of the *civic* world...a world where fighting is seen as savage and uncivilized.

Wulin has its own rules and etiquette. You need busy... er... Judges to give bia... er .... mediate disputes and rivalries sometimes.

The term "Iron-Faced Jidge" means a person who judges with no bias. Back in the day, this was a desired trait among people. Therefore, like all desireable traits, it got implemented into people's nicknames.

I don't think its wulin as ancient china itself, so basically what I'm trying to say, agree w/ above.
