I'm allergic to alcohol. I wish I could drink when I turn 21.

As a child, I was allergic to feathers, wool, and egg-whites. Egg-whites was the worst because I couldn't get most vaccines and many foods have egg-whites in them. Somewhere along the way I lost my allergy to feathers and egg-whites (yay! i don't have to pay $180 for synthetic flu-shots), so now I only have to avoid wool.

CanDEE, my sister also developed an allergy to grass as an adult, mid-twenties I think. That one's pretty nasty since she has to stay inside with the windows closed whenever grass is being cut nearby.
There are people prone to atopy, hypersensitivity. Genetic component involving the immune system and environment component (western clean environment = more allergy vs developing countries = more infections).

    Early life: eczema, food allergies
Child - teen: Asthma, hay fever
Generally grow out of it with time.

That's interesting because I was born with eczema and the egg-white allergy, both of which I was told were the reason I wasn't vaccinated as a child (I don't have one of those marks on my shoulder).

truth is..my allergies got worst when I moved to Texas maybe 10 yrs ago...

it's bad enough i had allergies. I later found out i got asthma also. My doctor told me only a few adult developed asthma at my age, then recently got psoriasis and then 20% who got psoriasis get arthritis and guess what? Supposingly it's all hereditary..I'm the lucky fews. DAmm, why can I win the lottery instead? hehehhe

Wow, bad luck. That's genetics for you.

If you don't mind me asking - is the arthritis symmetrical and is there pitting in your nails and how are you managed by your doctor? Apologies for my nosiness.

no problem---yeah, lot of pitting on my nails and I'm currently on HUMIRA-1 shot for every other week--I've gained lot of weights frm it but it's help with my joints pain...

so do you know some that has arthritis at a young age?

Thanks! No i don't know anyone personally. Just for educational purposes.

Didn't know weight gain is a side effect, is it another drug? I know someone who had rheumatoid arthritis and their treatment also increased weight.

i'm allergic to the cold. when it's too cold outside, or if the air conditioner is turned up, i break out into hives on my arms and legs. sometimes on my neck. started when i was in the 5th grade. the doctor had prescribed claritin, but that didn't do a darn thing, so she basically gave up and i got used to it. just kinda gross for other ppl to see. but the upside is that i'm not bother by mosquito bites at all.

and when i first got cats, i was allergic to them and sneezed and had a runny nose all the time. one night it was especially bad because one cat tried to sleep next to my face, and i woke up sneezing to death. then about 2 weeks later, my allergies just went away.

Hey is that cold urticaria? Was it diagnosed by putting ice on your forearm? Have you had severe attacks, like anaphylactic type? Can you go swimming?

    Again, excuse my curiosity.

no severe attacks. the worst time was when i was small and my whole right hand was basically one big hive. but that was really my own fault bc i was aggravating it on purpose to see how big i could make it.

yep, ...if i could swim. it did get me out of gym once, bc i'm especially prone to it in the rainy fall weather. no jogging outside for me!

I'm allergic to all nuts. Peanuts, Almonds, Walnuts, etc. and I'm also allergic to Coconut. Though I'm not allergic to sunflower seeds or chestnuts.
Sometimes it's hard to love someone because you're so afraid of losing them.

how's your reaction when you acccidentially eat some kind of nut and what medicine do you take to calm it down?
