Well, Rob Schneider can get away with it because he's half flippino.

Who's really the one at fault for the Hollywood stereotyping? I would love to blame Hollywood for this, but no, they are only a small part of the problem. Asians, who willingly take up the stereotype roles, are the real problem. If they had any dignity and pride of being an Asian, they would not have accepted those roles.

It still happens, of course not to the extent that it was in the old days...and notice that Eurasians are used more often than full Asians for roles that are MEANT to be full Asian.

    I agree with you entirely.
Which brings me back to yet another reason why I admire Maggie Cheung. She has been offered plenty of Hollywood roles in the past and even now (incl. Memoirs of a Geisha) and realistically speaking, she would have a better chance than many other actresses in Asia because she can also speak fluent English AND is a well respected actress. Yet she refuses to take on any role that she feels does not respect the Chinese people/Asians or places them in any kind of stereotype.

Easy to say when you are well off. But pride aint going to feed you. There are worst things pple can resort to like prostitution etc.

I mean "Bonanza" wouldn't have been "Bonanza" without Hop Sing.

*Edit: Very odd. Noticed you can't display linked images in some Forums yet you can in some????

Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

So yeah, Hollywood stereotypes Asians (and blacks, and Latinos, and Middle Easterners, and Native Americans, etc...even Caucasian groups such as Englishmen, Scots, Irish, Italians, Frenchmen, Germans, Russians, etc.). That's no bulletin. So Asian filmmakers have never stereotyped people from other cultures?

I could complain, but I'd feel a tad hypocritical doing so.
