    Default Typing Speed

    Hi!

I started this thread because I wanted to find out the general typing speed for spcnet members. How fast do you type?(WPM - words per minute)Do you actually find your speed fast enough?

Here are some sites which allows you to test your own typing speeds:

    http://www.freetypinggame.net/free-typing-test.asp
    http://www.typingtest.com/

And I'm quite curious to know what is the acceptable typing speed range whereby you will then be considered for data-entry jobs or jobs that require alot of typing inputs I've saw some websites which states 38WPM and some states a minimum of 40WPM.Can someone confirm the validity of this statement, please?

So which range of typing speeds would you consider slow, acceptable, good and excellent respectively?

81 wpm. i impressed myself, harhar. i used to do data entry, but mostly numerical data entry. i think it helped increase my typing speed a lot.

    65wpm

I think minimum requirement for data entry is 40wpm. That's what I see most of the time.

Whoa can anyone here type above 200 WPM? I was procrastinating and took that test (the first one, because it has a scoreboard lol), and I can only type 144 WPM.

As for what's acceptable, I don't really know since it's hard for me to picture how fast *insert number* WPM is. If you ever want to improve typing speeds though, I'd imagine Czerny would really help because it helps a lot on the piano, and you know, it's all about "keyboards." My personal favourite is "The Art of Finger Dexterity." It even sounds smart.

im pretty impressive considering I type with two fingers.
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

I've never see anyone do ~150, this would be a good thing to see. Not sure what the typing speed of people who competes are, when i was taking typing lessons with a software, i was able to hit 72+. now it's like 50+... fast enough for me...

    Net Speed: 113 WPM
    (words/minute)
    Accuracy: 77%
    Gross Speed: 146 WPM
    (words/minute)

Meh, it's kinda funny because my first attempt was 40 wpm (but I rushed and everything was wrong)..this one I slowed down a bit, and got much higher. Yeah piano helps for sure.

(damn need not to be tempted or else..fail..exams...)
