Unable to edit old posts.

I was unable to edit posts.

Ken Cheng has tried to edit my post and was successful. I later found out that this problem only affected old posts. I myself can also edit my new posts but not the old ones.

Please check. I'm not the only person that has encountered this problem.

My latest findings (copied from the other thread)

I just found out that this 'unable to edit' problem just happen in old posts. The newer posts, I can edit.

I think this problem started aroiund 28/12. So, I think the edition problem only affect posts that were posted before 28/12.

When I used the 'Go Advanced' option to edit, they sent me to 'database error' page after I press 'Save Changes'.

I can't edit my old posts, especially when I want to update information in the series thread I started.

I did a simple experiment and is able to edit 2 posts of mine in the academia forum. One was from 27/12/7 and the other one was from may 2007.

In addition, i also edited a post in the wuxia fiction from 27/12/7 where i do not have mod power.

So there was no problem with editing for me.

Can you specify if it is sub-forum specific?

It's not forum specific. I think you just need to find the 'starting point' of the problem. It's a database problem. It's corrupted somewhere.

When I first tried to edit the post, I got the "database problem" message/screen, which included a line that said "SPCNET has been notified". Therefore, there should rightfully be an error log somewhere. Find it and you'll see the problems that have occurred, when they occurred and where (in which threads/forums) they occurred.

yup I tried to edit some of my old posts but I couldn't either.

Can someone copy and paste the error message when editing and merging? Typically I should see a copy of the error in my email account but I don't see anything in the last few days from the forum.

And if you edit it through the "Quick Edit" option, your post just dissapeared and you have to refresh, however, the post seems to be unchanged from the last edit.
