Default Nvidia Geforce 9 Series to be Released February 21st

Supposedly, the high-end cards will surpass the 8800 GTX by 30 to 50%.

However, some are anticipating the 8 series price drop.

From what I hear, it's basically a pair of shrunken down, underclocked 8800 series chips, wedged onto a single card. Hopefully, the quad-SLI support will be good this time around.

Still, it's better than anything out yet.

Imagine running a game on two 9800 GX2's.

I can imagine a lot of things, but it's not so much the hardware technology, as it is the software which is the bottleneck. If the software could be rewritten better to take better advantage of multi-GPU/multi-core CPU's, performance would already be incredible.

dude, does Nvidia make their own Cards? Sorry I've always been an ATI man until they sold out to AMD. Now im at Nvidia site but when I go to shop, they link you to a bunch of stores and most are OEM and stuff.

I dunno but with ATI the authentic cards used to have higher specs then the OEM made ones.
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

I was quite sad when ATI was sold to AMD. I don't think ATI make their own card anymore right? I'm in Canada where ATI is from and I can't find recent ATI cards made by them anymore.

nVidia does not market cards; only the chip.

You should check their HD 3800 series, they're good cards.

Now that they're out, anyone planning on buying one???

I hear the 9600 GT is a steal. Its performance might be overhyped though.

How does it suck?? 650 MHz core clock, 1625 MHz unified shader clock, 1900 MHz memory with 256-bit memory interface, and up to 1 GB of GDDR3 memory. All for about $200.

well the specs arent much different from the GeForce 8800 GT. And according to the specs., the GeForce 8800 GT out performs it and is a little cheaper.

I don't know about actual benchmark performances but the 9600 GT has better specs. Also, in most internet stores, the 9600 GT is cheaper by 30 to 40 bucks.

well its not just the Nvidia which is going to release a new chip, Intel is also going to release a new octo-core (yes people, 8 cores) processor by the end of this year or so. Prices for quad-cores are expected to drop, though due to lack of any software which can make efficient use of multi-core processors, I'm not sure how things will work out.

And I heard that the new GeForce card is going to have 2 graphics processor chips on 1 card, 1024mb memory (512 for each graphics processor) and is going to cost at least 650USD minimum.

Quad core processors right now are dirt cheap. The Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz costs around $250. Supposedly its performance is double that of the e6600.

I've heard that the MSRP for the 9800 GX2 is like $599.

The 9600GT is excellent as a mid range card and its very value for money. I just picked one up and I can max out all the settings in games at 1900x1200 resolution without a hitch (Of course I'm only playing old games like Warcraft 3 and Starcraft )

A thorough review of the new 9800GTX.

I think Nvidia is slacking off with the Geforce 9 series and they should pick up their game. Intel is coming out with their own discrete GPU next year and it could owned Nvidia in their own game.
