I am no techie either, but here is what I know!
If it is an article that you want to post directly from another website, then you can simply copy and paste the characters over. Then you should be able to see it with any Chinese character supporting browser.
If you want to write something in Chinese yourself then you can either install a Chinese interface (software program that recognises Chinese encoding) - the most popular one can be found with njstar - www.njstar.com (I use this) or you can also try Richwin. For these you will need to know how to input Chinese character, either using radicals or Pinyin. Otherwise you can get a Chinese pen system and write them onto a pen pad which is easier but fiddly.
Hope this helps!
I found particually having trouble posting chinese in the forum...also as a Topic or whatever...
Wanted to start Mandarine Chinese Thread...so we can chat like Indonesian fellows here...but I couldn;t

You could also download Microsoft's Input Method Editor (IME). They have it for many languages. For Chinese, there is a traditional and a simplified IME. You can find them at microsoft's site: www.microsoft.com
However I've found that it doesn't turn out right when you post. When you are typing out your post, it looks fine. However in the actual post, it becomes random ASCII.

Yes Spirit.. I do have IME.. but when I type it .. it just turns out weird... don't know why.

Don't you just need to change the encoding? That's what I do and most of the time it works.

Hmm...I have that problem since switching to vbulletin. So how do you change the encoding?

I use Pen Master, a Chinese Pen system. I just write the Chinese words in, much easier than typing...for me that is .

Open the page with Chinese Characters you want to view.
Open the NJStar program
THEN EITHER:
Click on View in your top menu bar
OR :
Right click your mouse anywhere on the page
Click on Encoding
From the list, select either "Chinese Traditional" or "Chinese Simplified" - if one doesn't work, then try the other one.
The screen should refresh and if you're lucky, then something should happen to the Chinese text.
what if I just copy n paste from the njs program
