Default Things that are missing in the Jin Yong universe

What has never happened in the Jin Yong universe that you think would have been interesting had it happened?

For me, one thing that I wish Jin Yong would have incorporated into his novels is ELOCs that appear in more than one novel. To my knowledge I don't think there is any ELOC who has spanned multiple novels.

Wouldn't it be great if later novels referenced SWORD GOD's peak of perfection, Zhuang Zheng's bravery, Golden WHeel Monk's first disciple's talent, SEAHORSE Hu Liu's tossing of people into the sea, An Fengri's sabre skills, NEEDLE GOD's threading skills, etc.

I agree with the ELOCs. he problem is that so few references of ANY character span across the novels. It seems that in the world of Jianghu, some amazing guy could disappear for a decade or two and then hardly anyone knew of him anymore.

I think he should write a novel about the life of Tuk Ko Kau Pai (Dugu Qiubai) and how he invented his Dugu 9 sword technique...

In addition, 15 books is not enough. He should write a lot more than that with some setting in the Tang dynasty...

If Dook Goo Kau Bai is really everything he claims to be, it could be a boring story. Who wants to read a story about a fighter that can't be beaten?

That's why the writers of SUPERMAN introduced Kryptonite. They realized that they'd very soon run out of interesting stories about a character who can do anything and can't be harmed by anything.

Give the man a break; he's getting close to 90.

There are a few dozen characters who have been referenced in subsequent novels, mostly in continuation novels like ROCH=>HSDS and BXJ=>DOMD.

Women who have 4-5 guys chasing after them ::cough like every JY hero cough:: who aren't $luts (i.e. Madame Ma doesn't count).

Actually, JY's characterization of women is rather lacking, come to think of it. They're rather 2D. That's one things his novels miss.

    Let the flame wars begin.

What flame? I thought it's obvious that Jin Yong sucks at writing about women.

Shoot, in Yodaspeak meant I to write that.

    Rephrase it I shall:

4-5 guys chasing after women does JY miss; every hero of JY those has (but chasers girls they are). But $luts interest not I; counts not Madame Ma.

Of it come to think, really of women his characterization is lacking. 2D they rather are--miss his novels that thing.

    Let begin the wars flame.

    (Ya'll that have gotten?)

lol, not obvious for some it seems--although of my head off the top for whom this is so can't think I.

Damn, hard it is to Yodaspeak. To the screenwriters give I much kudos.

Guo Fu is a woman who was pursuit heavily.
pursuit heavily is a woman who was Guo Fu.

What did Guo Fu do to differentiate herself from the rest?
To differentiate herself from the rest did Guo Fu do what?

Unlike the rest, she was not nice.
Nice was not she, unlike the rest.

    What does that mean?
    That does mean what?

If you want to be pursued by multiple men, don't be nice.
Pursued by multiple men if you want to be, nice do not be.

Jin Yong was born in 1924 and published his last novel on 1970. He was only 46 years old, so he could have written dozens more if he wanted to just like GuLong and other wuxia writers.....

What he wrote put much bread on the table leaving him time for contemplation, pleasure and adulation.

Do you realise that JY continued to work on non-fictions, articles, and some literature research after he finishes his popular works?

What's more important, quality or quantity?

Gu Long wrote...what...sixty something novels? Other than the well-regarded classics, the bulk of them were utter crap.

Anyway, what's missing in Jin Yong is someone who speaks yodaspeak.

In the 2004 HK movie Dragon Blade, the subtitles for one of the old goon characters is completely in Yodaspeak. Here are a few of his lines:

    Gone mad, have you?

    a real man does not!

jumps at shadows a real man does not?

Mad at you, perhaps he is.
