    Default Searching for a person

Has anyone here have ever tried to look for someone? If so, through what method/mean did you use? I'm trying to look for a long-lost relative, who is believed to be residing in Australia. And literally, this is all the information that I have to work with. I’m thinking of placing an ad in the local Vietnamese newspapers or magazine there. If you are from Australia, can you kindly tell me the publisher’s name, so I can make the appropriate contact? I don't know if this will work, but I'm not quite ready to hire a professional (private detective) just yet.

Well, my location is far from Australia. I would be glad to help if I could.

I had experienced looking for someone that I have long lost contact with. I'd started with where she last lived in, asking the neighbours and so forth. Slow trace. It was like searching for a needle in a haysack. But it happened that I found this buddy through a friend whom I only know for a few months. I was like ...wtf
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?

I don't live in Australia and have never been there either. But many countries have standardized phone books, which state the phone number (fixed phones, not mobile ones) and the owner's name and address. If Australia employs such system, you can search your relative's name in the phone book.

I think the best thing, especially if you know their name, is to first look up the White Pages. If they can read Chinese, there is quite a few newspaper publishers. The big one that you can contact is:
    Australian Chinese Newspapers Pty Ltd
Ground Floor, 327-331 Sussex St, Sydney, NSW 2000
    p: (02) 9261 5237 f: (02) 9261 1347

Vietnamese newspapers that are here are: The Daily Sunrise, Bi-weekly Vietnamese Herald, Weekly Vietnamese Tribune, and Weekly Saigon Times. Try Viet Times Or go online and search for contact numbers for these publishers.

I hope this helps. I live in Sydney, so if you need help, you can just give me a shout.

    Thank you, Bell.

I was told that I can be resourceful and a good "detective" (maybe a potential stalker ). In any way if I could help, let me know.

Now, I come back just for you (j/k)

You guys call it the White Pages, too? Oh well, I think I need to learn more about other countries. I knew too little right now. :P And Ced, no. No stalking this time. Not even if your art of stalking was taught to you by Zhang Wuji himself.

I've tried the Whitepage approach, but fruitless. Your information is very helpful. Thanks a bunch.

    Erm.... ask the cops?

Or you could try setting up some ads in newspapers.

I'm not as good as Zhang Wuji for a stalker....I'm just at an apprentice level.
