Default Shouldn't the Dao-generation monks have helped to thwart SK instead of guarding TT?

During Cheung Mo Gei's first attempt to rescue Golden-Haired Lion King Tse Tsun from captivity at the Shaolin Temple, Cheung Mo Gei was able to prove to the Dao-generation monks guarding Tse Tsun that Sing Kwun was the true culprit behind the Tse Tsun affair and a traitor to Shaolin.

Logically, the Dao-generation monks should have dropped the guarding of Tse Tsun and hurried with Cheung Mo Gei and the Hung-generation monks to thwart Sing Kwun. Instead, they stayed up in their trees continuing their vigil while Shaolin nearly burned to the ground around them. What sort of twisted logic led them to this course of action?

A case of stubbornness? Or maybe they have a great sense of responsibility.

They said they had to stick to the Abbot's order (guarding Xie Xun), but they did promise ZWJ that they would protect him and not let Cheng Kun harm him.

That's what happens when people don't eat enough meat. They make dumb decisions.

It's an old phrase from Candide's...er, unique sense of humor.

Until today, I hadn't seen it in a while. It's always made me laugh.

Are senior generations monks are still bound to follow even a younger generation abbot?

Yes, and also in this case, they had to protect the reputation of Shaolin. They certainly didn't want outsiders to think that Shaolin was so scared of Zhang Wuji and Ming Cult that they handed over Xie Xun immediately upon request. There was nobody else there as witness to the talk between ZWJ and the 3 Du monks.

yeah, i can sense the humour and take the jokes. not to say i'm offended with the "joke", but the phrase can be easily taken out of context.

Oh my Fat Buddha, people can take my joke out of context and go that extra mile to make themselves feel offended and victimized! What shall I do?

I've got two classics of Candide's theory on why vegetarian clergy in wuxia stories often make stupid decisions.

There's more good stuff, but I think they're in my old ICQ dialogue archives of conversations with the Candy Man.

No offence, I'm just giving out my opinion as the first thing that crossed my mind when I read your first post in this thread.

I thought it won't surprise anyone that a simple phrase can become very controversial if he/she is residing in US. People resigned from high positions from a mere wrong words uttered. I believe if people can even jumping up and down on my previous post, then the phrase in question can of cause taken as bad taste.

Recommendation: when entering a Candide post, be prepared to not take it too seriously.

I swear to you: he rarely does.

You have a good intention but you care too much, my friend. See my signature.

Where were we? Oh yeah, the Du monks. Ken, don't forget that they forced themselves into 30 years of hardship and insane Zen training just to get revenge on Yang Dingtian for blinding one eye of the eldest monk. Silly buggers.

Did those guys even know YDT had died?
    Reverend Rongku prepared himself.

Suddenly, he toss his hands and screamed: "I am not human! I am an animal!"

The crowd startled at such a bizarre beginning to the story.
