i dont see how becoming a vegetarian is helping the planet. fruits and vegetables take more farming land than say chicken. Farm land requires deforestation, and intoxicating the soil with fertilisers, insecticides and pesticides. with the world's growing population on vegatarian diet, you're looking at destroying the planet faster than a swarm of locusts.

The truly sustainable method to save the planet is to cut down reproduction rates, which most nations are fervently trying to boost.

Combining the above ideas, I suggest we should start eating humans. Save the planet, harpoon a landwhale today! We can start with North America or Australia where there are a lot of big folks that have been well-fed. Mmmm....

    Jonathan Swift fan, eh?

When I saw your name in the thread, I thought we'd get something about vegetarians, shrinking brains, and bad judgment.

Is it the *nations* that are promoting this (on a government level), or simply the fact that people get horny?

    Don't you folks get it?

The only way to save the planet, is through the power of He Who Created The Planet!

Only through the divine intervention of God (Cantonese: san) can we restore the health of our planet.

So please, say your prayers tonight for the sake of the planet.

lol, that's what I thought of too. Best part is some people actually took/take him seriously... I vaguely remember hearing Swift got thumped by some angry Irishmen.

Anyway, to get back on topic... I have a feeling rethinking energy and resource usage is going to have a greater positive impact than shrinking your brains.

Okay, I correct myself: The nations want to boost birth rates and the people are very horny. Horny humans should get culled every now and then.

According to Candide, lack of meat consumption is responsible for every dubious decision made by Buddhist clergymen in wuxia.

for the sake of the earth...

though, in certain nations, it's not "horney" people that are the problem--but rather "stupid" people

Weird, I've read all two and love them, yet forget the dude's name. Oh well.

It's true. Xu Zhu is an example of a former monk getting much smarter and making much better decisions after he started to eat meat, drink wine and have sex with beautiful women.

It will do more harm than good!!!!!!!
There will be too much fishes in the ocean, too much other animals in the wild, ect.... In addition, life will be miserable for large portion of the population of meat lovers as they unable to adapt to vegetarian foods. By the way, I have nothing against the vegetarians though, but I just can't live my life as one... I agree with someone here that the better solution is to lower reproduction rate.

My solution is "DO NOT CREATE THE CHILDREN THAT YOU UNABLE TO RAISE" and "Think about the possible consequence before action". If everyone takes personal responsibility seriously with great personal behavior and personal accountability, lot of problems like famine, poverty, crime, ect... will be prevented...

Too difficult. Human intelligence is overrated and the ego is too big for us to swallow.

I would say that is pretty easy to do.... There are many members in spcnet here that are in their 30s and still single. If these people can live their live responsibly, why can't others??
The problem is that society doesn't hold people accountable on everything they do. To make the matter worse, we often make excuse to justify their actions...
