What are some things unique to each Jin Yong hero?

I'll start with the basics; please continue the discussion.

Linghu Chong - the only hero with a double-word last name.

Xiao Feng:
1) the only hero to take his life in the novel. 2) the only hero to be introduced after we have already seen another "hero" in the novel. 3) the only hero to have reached his peak martial arts at introduction time.

Guo Jing - the only hero to play a major part in another novel, where he's not the protagonist.

Yang Guo - lost a body part permanently

Wei Xiaobao - is a rapist?

WXB would have 100s of those, if you count him as a "hero".

Yeung Gor was the only hero who got maimed. Every one of the heroes sustained some injury at some point, but nobody lost as much as an entire arm like Yeung Gor did.

I thought Linghu Chong had a double surname? Or do we take 'last name' to mean surname anyway?

I just thought of another one: It is almost a law that main characters cannot have a child while in the novel. Wei Xiaobao is the only one who defied this law, I think.

Yeah, he could write the letter Xiao (although it's far from perfection). That's about it, I think. He can't read anything, except that letter.

i think linghu chong also played good music.... while most enjoyed it, i certainly never seen one playing an instrument before, unless it is for monkeying purposes

WXB the only one who swears a lot, if i remember correctly.... usually heroes are gentlemen and gentlemen dont swear, no matter how illiterate... maybe he not exactly foul mouthed, but close and sometimes i adored him for it, swearing at the right one, right place, right time and right word.... hehe....

usually the hero is an orphan... or semi orphan... HJ thought he was an orphan, until the parents turned out alive. the moment he knew them, they die.... duh!

err, sorry, i think chen jialu also played flute.... but i appreciated ling's musical talent more...

not something unique i admit, but tragic.... anyway, just voicing my thought.

I think he can read the word 2[二] and 4[四] in the '42 Chapters Sutra'[四十二章经]. Maybe it's just in the adaptation.

About the word Xiao, WXB could barely write it, but he always thought that it looked more like the p-word (a stick in the middle with two circles around it - that's how WXB wrote the word) than the letter Xiao.

Zhang Wu Ji is the only hero who is well-versed in medical studies.

Guo Jing is the only hero with one of the Greats, HYS as his father-in-law.

Zhang Wu Ji is the only hero who allows himself to be stab by a girl.

WXB is the only one with more than one wife, Duan Yu doesn't count as he has the royalty factor.

XF is the only one to lose the love of his life by his own hands and is the only one who didn't know his true race( and/or parentage) until his 30s.

Wai Siu Bo was the only hero to have met a European (Princess Sophia of Russia).

XF is the only hero who was downgraded (by the public) from a hero with full of support to a lonely menace. His brother (DY) went chasing after girls, and the girl he loved died. I wouldn't really call Ah Zhi a "support", rather it weakens his plight.

ZWJ, the hero with the most problems with females, and the luckiest when it comes to skills, not just martial arts in particular.(healing, poison etc.)

DY, the only hero whose martial arts skills aren't consistent, but always leap narrowly away from any trouble thanks to the Poisonous toad he ate plus his Beiming Shen Gong.

WXB is a hero, I mean, look what he had done for Heaven-Earth Society, but with the least "xia" qualities and depended mostly on his dagger and his vest for survival.

Di Yun, the "unluckiest" hero who had the worst plight in which many will rather commit suicide in his shoes, and the only hero who had a scheming teacher.
