Lately my luck's been bad. Last night I got the guy to call my all-in with his pair of 3s against my pair of ace on the flop. He had 5 outs left, but of course he gets another 3 on the turn and knocks me out of the tournament.

One time I had back to back hands first with pocket As then pocket Ks playing h2h. Lost both hands. Another crazy one was when I had QQ against A8. The guy gets 4 4s on the board, so his ace kicker wins. I'd rather just have him flop an ace. Still can't forget these insane hands.

In real life Holdem, I've never lost hands like this. I wonder if it's faulty programming. Straights and flushes hit so often in facebook holdem.

Least favorite hand is the flush, then 2nd is the straight.

Flush draws, in particularly, I really hate.

You like pairs, tw pairs, trips, quads. and full houses I take it. I don't mind flushes and straight draws. At least I could semi bluff my way to the pot.

I hate flushes and straights only because people rarely fold draws no matter how much I bet my top pair and with my luck they usually hit.

A couple of nights ago on Facebk Hold'em, I lost back to back tournaments when gutshot straights hit. I had better than 2-1 odds when I moved all in each time. Both times it was the J high straight.

I have won a lot of chips by playing tight, I guess I am bound to lose some... but it really sucks to always lose to draws hitting on the river.

I guess it's time for you to play real life poker... Live games are much exciting than online games. If you like to drink and play at the same time the better.

I just had the most incredible loss.

    I had Q 10, and the other guy had J 8.

Flop comes Q 10 10, so I flopped a full house and I think I have this one down.

I put in a half-pot size bet. Everyone folds except the other guy. Turn is a J.

I bet half pot again, he calls. Of course, the the river is another J. He goes all in, and at this point, in the back of my mind I"m like oh it can't be, but I had to call since it was only about 300 more into a pot of 1000+. So of course he beats me with a better fullhouse.

I went to one of those odds calculation sites, and I had a 99.7% win probability after the flop.

Luckily it was just for fun at facebook poker.

If I lost real money on a hand like that, I may have to stop playing.

shit happen, you just count it as getting beat on the river, nothing special, alot of people got woop on the river, that's why it's call gambling.

Wow talk about a bad beat. They should give out consolation prizes for those kinds of beat.

    Another tale of crazy defeat.

I have pocket KK and I go up against pocket 55.

Flop is K, 5, X. He goes all in, no brainer call for me.

The turn is a harmless card, but the river is a 5, his only out in the deck.

His quads beat my FH. Took 3/4 of my pile, but I later won a couple of all ins and made a comeback.

Both of us did what we were supposed to, the poker gods just like him more I guess. LOL.

I ousted him later on, but still finished just 2nd. A4 went down against K5.

    This one boggles the mind.

After the turn, the board had Q999.

I had Q7, and the other guy had J5, so he was drawing dead and had 1 single out for a tie. Then of course the river is the last 9 and the pot gets chopped. I bust out on the very next hand against the same guy when he hits running cards for a straight. I was ahead after the flop.

When you play long enough, you lose all kinds of imaginable hands I guess. But I would like to be on the winning side of a crazy hand for once.

Wow, you must play heaps. Never seen anyone done that bad by luck.

Do anyone here know the game mafia? It's not a card game, but we assign roles with cards. Awesome game that involves so many different skills of life depending on your role.

Nah there wasn't really a bad beat because it was pretty much a coin flip preflop, like 55-45 in favor of the pair. There wasn't much you can do. Neither player made a mistake. It feels particularly bad when the other guy makes stupid calls but wins cuz he gets lucky.

I did finally get one of those good breaks last night. This was a 9 handed tournament. A guy who's been aggressive raised preflop. I had 9's and didn't think he was that strong so I push everything in hoping to make it headsup. I couldn't raise small because a pair of 9s isn't strong when there are more than a few players in the pot. Everyone except that guy and another guy folded.

It turned out to be my 99 against A4 and KJ. An ace came on the flop so I thought I was dead. The turn was useless but the river was a 9 and I tripled up with the 2 outter. Ended up winning that tournament, so at least I got lucky one time.

Does anyone else play Facebook Texas Hold'em? Maybe we can get a SPC only table going. (tournament) LOL

Just had another crazy facebook poker showdown during the lunch break. I had lunch at my desk today and snuck some poker in.

I was the big blind. Everyone folds, and the small blind limps and I just check with 10c 6d. The flop is 10h 6s and Kc.

The small blind pushes all in, no brainer call for me with 2 pairs because I don’t think he’d bet like that with that strong a hand like a set. He flips over Qd Qh.

Then the flop and river are both hearts to give him a running flush on and I am like “oh jesus again???” But then I noticed my icon started flashing as the winner, and I looked again, the turn was the 6h so I made a FH. Haha. He slow played his Qs preflop and got burned.

I am thinking about playing online poker for $ to make some extra cash on the side, but it seems some sites cheat. The owner of Absolute Poker with access to players’ cards conspired with an outside player to cheat people out of thousands.

    Default Online $ Competitive Poker

If you play on facebook, you guys will just be bullies beating up noobs. I really recommend playing for $ on pokerstars or Full Tilt. It's way more fun and you'll be forced to improve. Not only that, they have online classes that will improve you in both flop games and all stud games:

    Holdem
    Omaha Hi & Omaha Hi/Lo
    Stud 7 Hi
    Stud 7 Hi/Lo
    Razz

Jiang, if you want to make money the money is in Omaha and Stud at the cash tables. Holdem is a VERY tough game to make money in because it's too impacted with good players.

Good training and experience in $ competitive play will turn you into a killer. You will have access to data on pretty much all the players you face. Other players will also have your data and will use it to attack you. You will frequently need to adjust your playstyle due to that alone.

I don't play too often anymore because I'm always doing theatre stuff. But I'll offer myself up as an example of an above-average player you are up against in competitive play:

My handle is RockstarOC on Full Tilt, and you can look me up on poker-edge.com. My player rating is listed as a BOMB with semi-loose hand selection. According to public data my average multi-table tournament finish is 45/100 and 1st place about 2% of the time, and I cash-in about 13.5% of the time. So I am a solid player that you would want to be careful against if you were in a hand with me. I don't go in with just any two cards (semi-loose), and I'm going to be raising you hard when I'm in with you. For that reason, it's better to fold in front of me pre-flop, and call when you have position for a possible check-raise.

So if you are moving over to competitive $ play for the first time you'll see that it's going to be a higher level of play that involves position and an understanding of every player's subtleties. The players are lot more analytical and will know things about you that even you may not. When you play on facebook it's like beating up little kids. No way for you to get better.

So I definitely recommend just putting in a minimum deposit at Full Tilt or Poker Stars. Get a set of running stats going for yourself. And I'd love to study them with you and discuss strengths and weaknesses. We can discuss how people played flop/turn/river hands. It's tough just not being the first guy knocked out at your table.
