haha, yeah, it's the typical spammer technique now, to gain google ranking for their link, they not only registered themselves but also socialising in forum. However Ken said, it's ok, as long as they are not posting porn pictures. Anyway those bugger registered themselves everyday and in droves. It's very hard to track anymore and I fade-up already reporting it - haha.

I hope Ken delete it though. Linking to gambling site is as bad as linking to porn site. And his/her attempt at 'socialising' is lame. Put some effort in please if you want to be convincing.

Nobody's saying it's OK to SPAM if it's not porn.

Some bots sign up to SPAM, but never actually get around to it. If we see them, we ban them before they can actually post SPAM, but we don't make a point of hunting them down if they register and don't post.

Sorry Ken, I wrongly interpret your info the last time we discuss it, however as you can see, they doesn't post spam, only the link in their signature for googlebot to crawl it. Their post if you read it, it's valid no spam at all

The link to the gambling site in the blackjack spam post (http://www.spcnet.tv/forums/showpost...4&postcount=53) looks like it's part of his signature, but it actually isn't. It's part of his/her post. So, Ken, can you edit that part out if u decide not to remove the post?

If they don't post anything, then there's no signature to worry about.

Besides, we can remove signatures if there's blatant SPAM there.

That is where you are wrong Ken, even though the spammer doesn't post anything, google-bot can still crawl their link in their profile because google-bot can still browse the memberlist and extract any information from there. Google-bot is just a robot and stupid, they will just index anything on sight, either it's a valid link or spam link (porn or anything).

The only way to prevent this is to not allow them to register in the first place through the checking of "are you human or not" in the registration form. The captcha images is not enough and can be bypassed because most SPAM program for auto registration already embbedded with an intelligent OCR program which can guess what is the text in the images.

According to SC, if they aren't actually posting anything that's visible to our members' eyes (and I don't mean just porn), then it's not our concern. In fact, SC *welcomes* these bots as they do count as traffic.

Yeah, I know, Moderator cannot do anything, super or not, only an Admin can manage the backend and installing mod, deleting member, forum pruning etc. I also managed three websites like this. All my forum/CMS that I manage is like a fort knox to these buggers/spammers.

Anyway with the popularity of SPCNET today, I don't think the websites need traffic from all this spammers anymore and allow them to register. Normal member already more than enough to generate traffics and income from ads etc to sustain the website.

Well this is only my humble opinion and my 2 cents. IMHO, letting the spammer to register even though they're not active is still like we're an accomplice to them coz SPCNET website still improving their search engine ranking by letting them stay with a spam link in their profile for google-bot to crawl.

I understand what you and SC saying about traffic, yeah it's true that when they come and register they give you one traffic, but after that, SPCNET give them thousands of traffics to their website from the search engine ranking by leaving their links in SPCNET website.
