nytimes: Every hr you have 10 minutes where you’re not doing anything productive at work, & you can’t look at porn. So you make a comment & fulfill this desire to show yourself off as a smarty-pants.
Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present to you our next Interviewee:
ChanceEncounter!!
1. What is your real-life occupation? What made you go into it? Was that your first choice, if not, what is?
I'm part of the smart money. It wasn't my first 'choice' per se, but it's pretty bomb as far as scheduling and lifestyle. I wanted something hands on and variable, because I get bored with routine; it's hard to get much more variable than it is now. Besides, it's a lot of fun to take advantage of the 'stupid money.'
Coincidentally, I'm also a part time oenophile.
2. What do you do for past-time, other than visiting spcnet?
I pretty much field text messages 24/7. I'm a faster and more efficient texter than most teenaged girls.
Other than that, I like the see movies, hang out, watch sports, eat food, taste wine, and occasionally play a game or two.
3. Why did you join spcnet and what makes you stay? Over time, has anything changed (eg. change in impression of another member)?
Most of my posts come in the Wuxia Fiction forum. I usually check there before branching out to the other forums. If I'm short on time or have a crunch, I probably won't even make it out of there before bouncing.
I'm a fairly new member, so I can't say that a lot of previous perceptions have 'changed.' I take a long time before I make judgments about people, so I have a very cautious neglect of my 'impressions.'
In other words, I'm likely too lazy to form impressions, and definitely too lazy to analyze them to see how they changed.
4. How did you come up with your username?
Couldn't tell you even if I wanted to. I think it was when I was trying to come up with a username that would work at a very busy forum, where nearly everything I threw at it was taken. So I ended up trying to think of some combination that would work, and ended up with Chance Encounter.
5. What is it that you really care about/can't live without? Do you have any values/beliefs that you firmly subscribe to?
I'm a moral relativist and libertarian, so I don't really have any actual value that I firmly subscribe in. Instead, I prefer to come up with opinions and beliefs on the fly, as I feel that each situation and each individual is different, so it's impossible to come up with some rubric or guideline for how to conduct myself for each and every circumstance.
I couldn't live without the crazy people involved in my daily life. I couldn't really live without my laptop and internet connection either. Well theoretically, I could, but it would just make everything many times harder.
6. Describe yourself. Which wuxia character do you think you resemble the most? Why? If you can be any wuxia character, who would you be?
LHC, probably. I'm pretty carefree and I don't really care about all the customs and structure. I'm not a molotov-cocktail slinging anarchist by any means, but I prefer to live life free from expectations and plans. I've never used a planner, never kept a journal, never really bothered to set goals. I like to do things spur of the moment, and adjust things on the fly. When I find someone that I can connect with, I can be fiercely loyal, but at the same time, I choose my friends closely.
I also tend to catch on to subjects that require some freestyle thinking and fluidity, which would also match up more with LHC than most other Wuxia characters. I have a pretty irreverent and pervasive sense of humor, and I don't take things to heart very easily. I'm also supremely lazy (like-too-lazy-to-spend-the-effort-to-get-into-bed-when-I'm-tired lazy) and a master procrastinator, though I do perform substantially better under pressure, and it's hard to spook or rattle me.
7. What are your feelings on someone like William Hung, who achieved his 15 minutes of fame and pocketed thousands by being the subject of ridicule and humiliating his entire race by being the steretypical bucktoothed chinaman on center stage for all to laugh at?
Good for him.
I don't think he humiliated his entire race any more than Flavor Flav humiliates black people, or Paris Hilton humiliates white people. People are too sensitive about stereotypes, particularly when they are racially motivated. If I had a nickle for everyone who earned a living portraying some stereotype [negatively], I'd own all of Dubai and much of Saudi Arabia by now.
So, I'm glad that William Hung was able to flex that brain of his and make some money off of his laughable lack of talent. Better him than someone I actually dislike.
8. Have you had your heart broken? How did you cope? Or were you the one breaking hearts?
Some people claim I don't have one to be broken... But I've been told I've broken quite a few in the past.
I've never stuck around long enough to know for sure though.
9. If you were stranded on a deserted island for about a month or so, which 5 spcnet members will you want to be with, provided you can’t eat them?
It takes the fun out of the question if I can't eat them.
In that case, I'd pick the 5 SPCNet members who were the best at gathering food to keep us alive and building a ship that would take me back home as soon as the wind can take us. Staying a month on a deserted island during the middle of college football season? Incroyable!
10. If you can pick a spcnet member as a secret alter ego, how would you pick? Why?
According to some of you guys, I already have an alter ego. So I'll let you guys decide.

What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!
I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?
"Smart money"... I presume you're in finance and investments then? Do you feel affected by the financial storm right now? Do you enjoy highway life in a big city, or do you see yourself settling down in the suburb in the near future?

Chancy, why did you join spcnet in the first place? There are plenty of other wuxia forums around.
Chancy, who do you think is the hottest male member here?

I'll leave you to do the onanophiling, then.
That one's easy.
Well, as far as I know, Chancio and Chancioto would imply different ages.
And yes. I often put food just outside of the bunny's reach to see bunbun squirm.
That's really evil. No wonder poor Oolong died.
Bunny killer. -_-
Has Chancers been replaced by Sarah Palin? He's been dodging questions left and right!
Seems like Chancey is encouraging us to fire PMs.
