New sets of ads on top of forums.

Not that I come to SPCNET Forums to view the ads, but I couldn't help but notice the new variety of ads that have begun appearing during the past month or two. For the longest time, there were only one or two advertisers in the space up top (notably, some business that sold Korean drama DVDs). Now, there's lots of different stuff up there.

Just an observation.

Has anyone gotten a sudden pop-out ad on spcnet? I don't really like it. The banner on top or on the side is fine.

I'm not aware of any pop-out ads. When do they appear?

Please let me know if there are any pop-up or pop-out ads that appear. We are testing new ad types and annoying pop-ups and pop-out ads should not appear at all. We are trying to monetize the site better, so that's why you may see some different ads.

Alright, I was posting to a thread when a full-screen cellphone ad just replaces the webpage. Pretty annoying.

Oh yeah, that happens sometimes. The thread link just gets replaced by some ad link.

Alright, this time the "Search Gypsy" ad replaced the spcnet page, and I lost my reply.

I'm petitioning to remove these types of "pop out and replace the whole page" ads. Highly disruptive and annoying.

We'll look into the ads. We explicitly exclude popup, popunders, and ads that do something when you rollover or not so not sure whey those are showing up.

We've deactivated one our ad networks. We're going to keep deactivating them until the ad that takes over stops. So keep posting if you have the issue.

Okay, has anyone else got the "You've got virus! Download xxx security NOW! => Autoscan>>" pop-up? Looks like a virus/trojan horse and I'm unsure if it's from spcent ad. But I got that on 2 computers already.

It just happened again. I was in a thread and tried to click the SPCNET link button to return to the front page, but the link url had become yesasia. I tried returning to the forum page too but the same happened.
