    Default Crime Busters x2

    Crime Busters x2 叮当神探

    Cast:

This serial started yesterday in Singapore.

The opening scene in the first episode involved a gruesome murder – probably the most gruesome scene I can remember seeing in a Mediacorp show. But the rest of the episode played out more like a comedy. I guess that sets the tone for the rest of the show.

Dawn Yeoh is the female lead in the show. I've been somewhat intrigued by her because although she's one of the so-called seven princesses of Mediacorp, my impression is that she's the least popular of the group. Mediacorp, though, seems to have kept faith in her.

Dawn plays a rookie cop in this show. It's a bit different from her other shows. But then she does seem to be breaking out into different types of roles of late. Her rather unique voice makes it a bit difficult for her to be convincing in some roles. A cop role would certainly have seemed to be one of those roles. But so far in this show at least, she's not doing too badly. The comedic element probably helps.

    Thumbs up Shaun Chen

Shaun Chen as Jiang Zaixi . . . a surgeon maniac in the show.

i think the series is not too bad. some elements of creativity but very unbelievable mystery plots which were too coincidental. good to see tay ping hui trying comedy instead of his usual, "i'm such a cool cop" aura.

For me, I preferred the mystery part over the comedy. Quite a few twists to the plot and subplots scattered throughout made for a rather interesting story.

In fact, I thought Mediacorp could have made it a straight crime-thriller and do without the comedy. To me, Tay Ping Hui didn't quite have the comedic touch. Unlike Dawn Yeoh, who seems to be a natural.

For those who don't already know, the serial ended yesterday.

I'm currently watching this series. I agree that Tay Ping Hui lacks the comedic touch, but then again I don't think his character is supposed to be funny. He's more of a foil for Dawn's character. I can't believe Jing Yi keeps a cockroach as a pet.

That's why Tay is grossed out at her.

Yes, but of course, somehow, opposites always manage to eventually attract in these cases.
Lu Da Xiong should seriously consider becoming a member of that DVD rental place and supermarket he always frequents.
