    Default 2008-2009 NBA Season

Well, it's going to start soon, so might as well get the thread going.

I foresee a Lakers/Celtics rematch in the NBA Finals. This time, however, the Lakers will prevail.

Considering where the Heat were last season (one of the worst records in NBA history), the addition of a healthy D. Wade will make them much better, but getting to the NBA Finals is a stretch...especially if the Celtics are anywhere near as good as they were last year.

spurs?? they are done.... havent u heard ginobli is out for a few months. and tim duncan been slowing down the last 2 years, dont get me wrong cause i dont hate tim, hes probably a top 10 pf in nba history, but hes too old now.

heats?!?!!?!?!?!?!!?!?! id be surprised if they make it to the playoffs. they seriously have nobody. their pg just retired, marion is good, but doesnt fit their system and hes taking like all the cap space in the team. beasley? injured already. dwade? yes hes definitely good, but hes just going to be like what kobe did the last few years, 1 man carrying the team. just doesnt work.

Ginobili will be back, but it remains to be seen how significantly this series of injuries has impacted his game in the long term. Considering how long it's afflicted him (he was first injured before the playoffs began...six months ago), and how he compounded it playing in the Olympics, this might be a lingering wound that could permanently hamper his game. I can understand Ginobili's reasons for wanting to play in the Olympics: *no* competitive athlete wants to turn down the opportunity to represent his country at the Olympics if at all possible, but in the interest of extending his career, Ginobili's decision to play in Beijing might have been unwise.

That's like saying Magic Johnson was "probably a top 10 PG" in NBA history.

And if Tim Duncan is too old at 32, then Kobe Bryant isn't far behind at an 'old' 30.

Don't really see anyone that can seriously challenge the Celtics in the East, unless Cleveland pulls off a nice trade or two.

In the West it looks like the Lakers or Hornets, possibly the Rockets if they can all stay healthy.

Lakers/Celtics in finals again would be the NBA's dream, especially if the Lakers won this time so it's a real rivalry again.

ahaha point is you are captain obvious.

Anyway, I wouldn't count the spurs out but it will depend on how manu gets on.
I would be watching NO and Philly this year.

Don't forget the Portland Trailblazers. It's only a matter of time before this team becomes very, very dangerous.

It was a gamble at best: Artest has the one thing that Odom doesn't have and desperately needs - AGGRESSION. But Ron Ron has a little bit *too* much aggression, sometimes misdirected. It'd be overcompensation.

Provided the Rockets don't self-destruct first.

Every season, if it's not McGrady's back, it's Yao's knee or now, Artest's mind.
