My laptop is dying

mmm... started within the first 2 months. and i paid about 1800 USD.

there's the problem.

Anything over 1000 I would get a MAC, then install window on it . They have great hardware and support compare to expensive dell.

The other problem is that the laptop is too loaded = way too much heat. These laptops are cramp into small space, they're not meant to work like desktop, get a mid range configuration and you're much safer (mid range = 600-700 bucks).

I'm very serious about using a mac and install window on it, they're very nice laptop in the 1000+ range . I would never buy them because it's too expensive... but they're nice IMO.

I paid $250 for a service contract, so if my new Dell starts having problems like pemberly's did, I won't have to take care of it all out-of-pocket.

mine had a 3 year contract, so it didn't cost me a thing to replace everything, but it's just annoying bc every month, i wouldn't have the use of my computer for a week. -_- it was like my inspiron was having its period.

Hm... I think it was just your particular one because I had mine since April 2007 and it has not had any problems at all. My brother only paid $700 USD for it since it was on sale.

it was quite some time ago, and it was probably my model of inspiron. they discontinued my model not long after i bought it... after a class action suit.

Yea, maybe it was your particular model. THe model that I have is very commonly used and seems to be popular. It is good that they discontinued it since it didn't seem that great or reliable...

Just as a point of clarification, they can last that long. It varies from person to person.

Annoyingly, my laptop's price went up $50 in a week. I couldn't purchase one at the lower price because all the stores were out of stock, and by the time they got a new shipment they had raised the price.
