Default Yoshitsune - Japanese Historic Drama 2005

    "Yoshitsune"

    2005 NHK Taiga Drama

    49 Episodes

The 2005 NHK Taiga drama details the legendary life of Yoshitsune, and his rise from young orphan to powerful Genji general.

The historical drama for 2005 is a life story of Minamotono Yoshitsune, popular historical figure in Japan who is known to have been an excellent battle commander in the very end of the Heian period. Yoshitsune, a member of the Genji clan, contributed greatly to the clan's victory over their rival Heike clan and to establishment of his brother's first shogunate in history. Based on a novel by Tomiko Miyao, the drama portrays the life of the “super hero” focusing on the rivalry and sympathy between Yoshitsune and Tairano Kiyomori, the head of the Heike clan.

It was a good series. I like how they told the story and great cast. I also love the chemistry of Tackey & Ishihara Satomi. I wished there were more scenes of these two.

This is one of my favorite Tackey dramas.

This is a great series that got me hooked from the beginning but I stopped watching around episode 30ish. Historically, Yoshitsune was a tragic figure who was betrayed in battle and I really dreaded watching the end.

Does anybody know if the ending to the drama showed that last battle or does it end beforehand?
