What exactly do you mean by Shen Lang's successor? Do you mean this Gongzi Yu was a descendant (of Shen Lang)? Or do you mean Shen Lang once served as the symbol Gongzi Yu and that the Gongzi Yu in the novel was the guy Shen Lang trained for the Gongzi Yu role? Sorry, I only know the novel from the Ti Lung/Chor Yuen movie. Thanks.

No ... in my opinion ... Ah Fei was never trained by Shen Lang. He was (arguably) Shen Lang's son but was never formally his successor, only in blood. I think Gongzi Yi somehow or other received Shen Lang's direct training and inherited all his martial arts and teaching.

i thought that Shen Lang retired to an island outside wulin after Wulin Wai shi, and the putative Gongzi Yu is the same age as FHX, so, it must be someone that he trained when he is old.....

Does anybody know if the events in the novel correspond to Legend of Fu Hung Suet ATV serial? I'm wondering how accurate the serial is. I'm also confused about this whole trilogy thing.
