isn't the name Huai Yu Ge Ge? But yeah, "ge ge" is gong zhu (princess).
she's supposed to be an ancient princess, she was an infant during the war, and saved by a general who, on his near death, gave it to Fu Rong's father to bring up. So when Huai Yu accidentally shot while hunting Cheng Yun's brother, Fu Rong had to send himself in and say he did the crime.

Its actually 100++ episodes. I don like the series coz I found Carol Cheng's voice irritating although she is cute. Also, I found the scenes between Carol and that guy she always beat (the guy who liked Cheng Ying) very draggy. This series is a No-no for me.
But the gal who plays the emperor's consort (dowager's niece) was pretty and elegant enough to act as a consort. she also made ppl hate her as being evil. Unlike other consorts in tv series, she didnt have that spoilt-girl tone of voice.
Well, carol is ok in her acting otherwise, but i think more ppl would have preferred HZGG. Some part of the series are silly and waste of time also, for eg
the eunuch (played by shi yu) getting involved with carol's maids
I think the series is more prefered by ppl who are not-so-serious and more patient ppl. it got on my nerves. (i wonder is carol's voice always like tat in her serials?)

Its a nice show... strongly recommend
i din really like carol's character. No wonder the series isnt as popular as Huan Zhu Ge Ge which had three seasons. But it's still ok , i think. But its really long to rent...
yeah it is funny sometimes, thinking of veteran actor shi yu, huai yu ge ge's maid qing qing, and the part huai yu disguises as a male and becomes sworn brothers with the 2 men - wu ying xiong and the emperor. the shock of seeing two men half-naked frightens her a lot (it was in the old times)
I hated Jiang Zu Ping' s character in the serial, especially when she tried to kill Eric Suen.
At some points i really sympathetised with the consort. What she required was a bit of Eric's love,as u see in other series with emperors. Sigh. Wonder if she does good-girl characters.

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can watch it online????
~:~:MELLION:~:~
I finally found this thread.
Is Eric Suen really good in here? I heard the viewership ratings are high. Pls give more comments on this show.
can someone please explain the ending to me?
WARNING!! SPOILERS BELOW!!
I just finished the last episode and I'm not sure I totally understood it. Can huai yu and kang xi be together? He's sending her off (I thought b/c they couldn't be together after confirming that she was a ming dynasty princess), but then he calls her name and she turns around, smiles, and then they hug...Does that mean they're going to be together now or that it's kind of their last good bye???
heheh... i think that's supposed to be up to your interpretation... open ending. ideally she'd stay with him but realistically, i think she left.Originally Posted by xiaolin13

Yes, "Ge Ge" is the same as "Gong Zhu," but since we are talking about the Qing Dynasty here, it would be incorrect to use the term "Gong Zhu" for a princess.
Thanks,
Yes, the title if translated word for word in Chinese is Hoai Ngoc Cong Chua. However, this series was NOT ever officially dubbed into Viet in the US. I think it was in Vietnam though, but not in the US. This is one of the few series that will not be released in Viet at all....
Respect other people's opinions and views. If we learn how to do that than all of these fights and arguments will not occur.

How are you today? What! This series was never officially dubbed into Viet in the US!? I assume this is a pretty good series, but just a little too long. I think that is not a good enough reason not to be dubbed in the US. Are you sure that it won't be released in Viet at all? Well, I am Vietnamese, so I cannot understand Chinese. How can I watch it without the dubbing? In that case, I think I have to go back to VN to buy it?! By the way, do you know how they translated the title into Vietnamese in VN, so that I can look for it?
Xie Xie,
Ni Hao Dai Hup!!
I am ok, thanks! Yea, this series was never translated into Viet in the US from what I know. This series has been out since 2000, so it has been out for 6 years. There are just some series that just don't get translated, it isn't because of the length since there are series that are way longer than this one that are translated. I honestly don't know how you can watch it if you can't understand Chinese. I don't think that it was actually "dubbed" in Vietnam, but you know how they have those narrators?? I think that is really annoying, but it is your best bet. I don't know what they call it in Vietnam, but I THINK it should be called either Hoai Ngoc Cong Chua or Hoai Ngoc Cat Cat. I didn't really watch this myself since it was soooo long... I can understand Chinese and Viet, but the story was too draggy to finish... Ni Bu Yong Ke Qi!!! Trinie

Zunjing de Trinie Xian Jie,
Thanks for taking your time to reply back! Yeah, it has been nearly six years, so I highly doubt they will translate it now since there are so many other series waiting to be dubbed. Honestly, this is the first time I came across a series I want to watch, but was not dubbed into Vietnamese. I have came to the conclusion that I need to learn Chinese. Since you are fluent in both Chinese and Vietnamese, maybe you can be my teacher? I promise to treat you with my utmost respect.
I know what you mean by the dubbing in VN. I really despise the narrative voice since you cannot put feelings and emotions into the characters yourself. I would rather watch TV Series with English subtitles than with one person narrative.
I have heard some comments about the length of this series, and how it can be quite draggy at certain times, but I am a history buff. So, I am collecting all the series talking about Emperor Kang Xi. I know that this series is certainly more fictional than factual, but I am sure it still has a value entertainment-wise.
Xie Xie,
I like it! thanksOriginally Posted by invisible_dolphinbay
Actually this series won't be released update in Vietnamese. When I went to my distributor a while back and I saw a couple of episodes aired in Chinese, I wanted to rent it in Vietnamese cause I understand it better. However, the distributor stated that the main distributor never bought rights to this series in the US because of the ratings and the length. Basically, this series is too long and won't sell if dubbed in the US. In addition, there was some scheduling conflicts because of the quantity over quality issue with so many series being released. There aren't that many dubbing companies in the US (2 if I am not mistaken) that dubs all series with rights. Unfortunately, this series is one of those series that probably won't get dubbed.
For example, most TVB series (since with Taiseng) gets released within the year dubbed in the US. Big China productions are usually within 1 year. ATV takes longer. Korean dramas take the longest.
For example, Chess Wariors with Dicky Cheung took (over 2 years before it was released in Viet) while The Mischievous Princess (Alec Su) took 1 year.
