I don’t blame what the Chinese commies did on Marx. The persecution of “landowners” was Mao’s doing and it was executed by local villagers who wanted to settle personal grudges and to prove that they are “revolutionary.”

Anyhoo, back to topic. Mao was a piece of garbage and one of the biggest dickheads in the history of the world. If Liu Shaoqi had come to power, I think the Chinese people would have been spared a few decades of suffering. But as usual, in power struggles, the more despotic person usually wins.
What are you fighting for? Just mix them into pissing beef balls, stupid.

China is a 100x bigger than Taiwan so you can't compare what CKS was able to accomplish there to what he could've accomplished in China. I doubt CKS would've done any better.

What would've been best is if the moderates had been able to stay in power after the Communist takeover instead of being purged by crazy Mao.

But as usual, in power struggles, the more despotic person usually wins.
Quite true, any person who was genuinely interested in the welfare of the country would always be at a disadvantage.

Mao was a bigger turd than I even realized. I always thought that growth in China was always sluggish, but doing a project for my job, I came across this:

That jerkoff really was one of the worst leaders in Chinese history. If anyone deserved to be assassinated, Mao was it.

Mao was an excellent revolutionary and terrific at political infighting. Alas, he was absolutely terrible at governing...

The thing is for all his faults and the millions he caused to die, if China was not purged of the big landowners and aristocrats and a strong central government was not set up it would most likely look like India today. Where nothing can get done because it would be bogged down in a whole lot of red tape.

Currently if a road needs to be built, the chinese government can just build it, while in india the road would probably never be built because it would affect some powerful land owner's property.

Unfortunately, that seems to be very often the case with revolutionaries...
