This is really interesting. There isn't much room for gray area or middle ground in your worldview, is there? Either you're a 'strong, confident and kind', or a 'shit-scared nervous-wreck cold-faced SWPL wimp'...

    I don't do things half-arsedly.

Besides, we have too many wimps already and too few of the opposite. Why would I bother with promoting the middle ground?

Maybe that's why a lot of people have identity crises :P.

The world itself is in multiple shades of gray, not black and white. Those who prefer dealing in the gray understand and are fine with that; it is the people who persist in dealing with absolute while doing their best to ignore the nuance and grayness which stare them in the face which have problems. Or, to put it in another way, ya don't want to be George W. Bush, do you?

What is true men, what is not, and what is half-male men??? How do you define it?? Who are you to judge?

Things may be better in China itself, but I am just very disappointed and disgusted at the apathy and selfishness I see out of FOBs here in NY. Just last night, as I was exiting the subway and climbing the stairs out of the station, I see ahead of me this old man (70’s, maybe 80’s even) struggling to carry a small cart downstairs. And these two FOB looking guys (I can tell by their hair style – you know, the one that many sissy idols sport, distinctive to Asian Asians.) coming down the stairs just skipped past him without even a look. So I ended up helping the man carry the thing back down the stairs. I mean for god’s sake, don’t THEY want someone to help their elderly parents or grandparents?
    What is FOB?
How do you know people of other cultures not doing the same?

Jiang Bao, there is something called "Take One Step Back, There is a Great Sky and Plain". They are words of wisdom of the great asian (chinese) culture. Did you not hear about it?

Back to the topic, if I were that younger guy, I would simply walk away from the start as it's not worth to confront the idiot. One day that idiot will learn the hard lesson.

Some things have fewer shades of grey than others.

In certain things, the extreme - either black or white - is the best one.

And sometimes you gotta pick your damn shade of grey and stick to it.

I also disagree with the typical liberal assumption that if someone is presenting two options in an argument, it means black-white thinking. Maybe that person is referring to two sides of a spectrum. Personally what I'm advocating in this topic is that we should be on the Awesome side and reject the Wussome side. The Awesome half of the spectrum has many levels.

As for your Bush analogy, here's something completely different: there are people who don't think in the liberal leftie "shades of grey" way but are equally against the conservative Republicans. To think that if you don't appear to go with the "shades of grey" way, you must be a Dubya kinda guy could be considered black-n-white thinking, don't you think?

Dubya (with his Dick Cheney side-kick) is an illiterate useless d!ck and Nobama (with his man-hating sidekicks Shrillary and Joe Mangina Biden) is a well-spoken useless d!ck. Pick one and lube up, America!

Two options does not necessarily mean black and white thinking, but describing one option as 'strong, confident and kind' with the other being 'shit-scared nervous-wreck cold-faced SWPL wimp' does.

You aren't necessarily a GWB type of guy when not considering the grey, but he is an excellent example of the type of damage that a person who thinks purely in black-and-white can cause.

It sounds like you feel you are much more useful and effective than this administration or the previous. I am curious, do you believe you would be a more successful and effective president than President Obama, or a better Secretary of State than Secretary Clinton?

Fine, I'll throw a bunch of fence sitters who only follow shiny things and never really make a stand of their own in the mix.

Just you wait till grey-thinking Nobama wrecks your country even more than Bush did. In fact, his buddy Joe Biden has already done so with VAWA.

Yeah, if I had the fortune to have the connections that those people do, I'd make a much better leader.

Nobama is all talk and bugger all useful actions. How's that Nobel Peace Prize going along, now that he's continuing the wars? When he appeared on the scene, my BS detector rang loudly and when I saw the people he was appointing, I knew that this guy was full of sh!t.

Shrillary is a cry-baby sore loser feminazi. Do you really want a leader who cries when facing a loss and plays the "SEXIST!!!" card?

They're all serving the same corporate masters anyway so what's the difference?

I see. So you are saying that you believe the 'Violence Against Women Act', which has been described (after initial opposition) by the ACLU as "one of the most effective pieces of legislation enacted to end domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking", to have done more damage to the United States than all the things which Pres. Bush did during his eight years in offense, including launching two wars, presiding over the disastrous response to Katrina and the credit meltdown, and more?

I see. So you feel you would be a much better president and leader of the world's largest economy and superpower, if only you had the connections and the ability to convince the American people to vote for you. It sounds like you would've done a much better job of convincing 60 US Senators to do what you wanted on the health care debate, or the Chinese and Indian governments on climate reform at Copenhagen.

And, incidentally, why don't you get those connections? Unlike, say, Pres. Bush, Pres. Obama didn't come from a political dynasty; he started in a single-parent family, studied his way into Columbia, then Harvard Law, where he made law review, and so on and so forth. If a "useless, ineffective d!ck" like him is able to talk his way from a single-parent home to the presidency via the connections he picked up on the way, why can't you?

Coz I'm not black and I spent 18 years in another country?

I'm not gonna debate VAWA and the corrupted ACLU here. It'll take forever.

I'd love to get into a longer discussion with you on this one, but I just remembered that you're a diplomat so it'll be a waste of time. Let's agree to disagree.

Oh, okay. So if you were black and had spent more time in the US, you would be president (and a much better one). Gotcha.

It’s like you get one gem of a quote out of TC a day. Being a minority (not just black) has huge advantage? How do you describe that quote without it sounding like a personal attack?
What are you fighting for? Just mix them into pissing beef balls, stupid.
