Default Windows Vista -> Windows 7 upgrade

Has anyone upgraded from Vista to 7? I just bought Windows 7 and am ready to say goodbye to Vista. Is it better to install it as an upgrade, or reformat the computer and do a fresh install? I have minimal stuff on the computer so can afford a reformat.

Fresh installs are always, always better. That's what I did.

I vote for clean install and reformat computer once you backed up all your important files.

The only gripe I have with Win7 is that the "Show Desktop" icon is on the lower right hand corner now instead of the taskbar but at least there's a workaround:

So how is it so far? Much better than Vista? How is it when compared with XP?

I saw a live demostration when I was browsing new netbooks. It looks very similar to XP yet build with the thought for saving of virtual memory, IMO (minimised dialogue boxes lined up into fine thin lines at the bottom of your screen instead of the usual small icons). It's nothing as crappy as Vista. After having a short session of hands-on that Win 7 myself, Vista vs Win7 is an impossible comparism.

Windows 7 feels a lot less clunkier and faster than Vista.

Agreed. Plus, if you have an SSD, Windows 7 is highly optimized for it. It'll make your entire machine feel different.

I never had any major issues with Vista. Sure, those constant permission prompts got tired quick but after turning it off in UAC, I thought the OS was better than XP.

I recently bought a brand-new PC that came with Windows 7 but I'm using that mainly as my media hub. I can't really tell a difference between Vista and Win7.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

    Default Windows 7

Hey folks, for those who have been using the Windows 7, no matter as a clean installation or upgrade, how do you find its performance?
